Interesting to see parachute payments mentioned. They initially did not annoy me, as when they were introduced, it was to assist relegated clubs who had not included relegation clauses in player contracts, and who could not afford the PL wages in the Championship. Fair enough if it had remained a short term measure to allow clubs to introduce these clauses over the next 3-4 years, as that was what it was designed for. But we still have these payments now! The clubs that have put in the contract clauses win a watch, as they pay their players less, and yet still get a massive cash investment for a few seasons. The clubs that still haven't inserted these clauses deserve everything they get, and they most certainly don't deserve the parachute payments! Kill them now, & distribute the budget for them over the other leagues.
It was 2 years of parachute payments when you were relegated and not as much as today but better than a poke in the eye.
Not at all Shaks, correcting him, although Leeds never saw any of it as that nice man Mr Ridsdale had spent it all trying to compete with the big boys, which in hindsight was like giving a virgin choir boy the leading role in a hardcore porn movie
Good point about FFP .. Fulham clearly trying to comply by getting rid of high earners and selling those they can ... QPR on the other hand simply took the piss, and promotion means, as far as I remember, they get no penalty as it only applies to the league you're in or if you're relegated .. disgrace
