So if we get another 50m for Morgan and Lovren will we spend that to?

 

I just don't see us being able to put all of this to use immediately. It's just too much money at this point. We replace what we lose and get in a few extras.

We don't need to spend 100m+ to do that.

Nooo we need to spend it all down to the last penny. We need the Newspapers to report 'Southampton, who spent £120m this summer, the second highest in Europe' and then have the likes of West Ham Fans questioning how we are inside the FFP when they can't spend anything until they sell

I read that kongolo is almost certain to stay at feyenoord unfortunately

Whilst I agree to an extent, we do need to build and progress and we could certianly do with two quality players in each position, with the untested youth players pushing them for places/going out on loan if neccessary. Very early and mainly based on speculation, granted, but I would expect the squad, numbers wise, to look something like:

Forster, Boruc
Chambers, Clyne,
Armero, Targett
Van Dijk, Fonte
Vlaar, Yoshida
Wanyama, Cork
Clasie, JWP
Ramirez, Davis,
Tadic, Moses
Rodriguez, Scott Sinclair
Ings, Pelle, Guidetti, Gallagher

That is assuming that Morgan, Osvaldo and Lovren leave and also based on the max number of players we'd sign (we might not need the massive outlay on a player like Clasie, for example, if Reed is ready and RK is happy).

That lot above, though, would be around £100m + quite a bit more wages that we are used to, and would only really be replacing what has left/improving in areas of need. Would probably represent a slight profit for the club on summer dealings & improved squad on last season once/if players settle. Either way, the more players leave the more we need to sign + a couple more. to do otherwise could leave us in a very difficult position - we were lucky with injuries last season in many positions (cb, lb, lw, rw).

 

It's more about convincing the club to sell. They'll be very stubborn considering De Vrij and Indi are surely out the door and they don't want to be left with only Mathijsen.

 

Ergh Sinclair and Moses.

 

More a case of feyenoord not willing to sell every defender in their team

 

That's why I said if, we could give them Hooiveld....

 

And Pelle and Clasie. Clubs don't want to sell all their top performers in one window

 

I'm not sure Clasie will move either. Him, Vilhena and Boetius are the key to their success.

 

I think we may be ok a dm anyways, Wanyama, Cork, Prowse and Reed. I still wouldn't mind trying to get him seeing as Clasie said he owes Koeman his career.

 

If we spend less than we sell we still have the increase in TV revenue to cover the increase in wages, which is sustainable. This window should be(!) unique in the number of ins and outs. We can rinse top clubs on fees for our higher earners as more youth comes through to ensure the wage bill doesn't explode.

Well, in theory at least!

So a flurry of bets that Liverpool have bid for Bony. Are they going to buy everybody in this window??

 

I worry that Wickham may secretly be Jon Stead. Although I didn't see much of his purple patch last year.
