Better news than any new signing for me, felt this deserved it's own thread instead of a normal post http://www.tottenhamhotspur.com/news/new-deal-for-hugo-100714/ We are delighted to announce that Hugo Lloris has committed his future to the Club with the signing of a new five-year contract. Hugo joined from Lyon in August 2012 and has since made 78 appearances in our colours, with his performances in goal making him a firm favourite of the fans. The 27-year-old French national team captain has just led his country to the quarter-final stage of the World Cup in Brazil and will now enjoy a short break before returning to begin his pre-season training programme with new Head Coach Mauricio Pochettino. âI spoke with the Chairman and I know the Club is as ambitious as ever,â said Hugo. âItâs very important to feel at home at a club and for my family to feel well. I enjoy a great relationship with the Club and the fans. The arrival of Mauricio Pochettino is important as well. I have a good feeling with him. He is also ambitious. "Everything is clear in my head and if Iâve signed a new contract itâs because I trust the Club and Iâm sure we will progress in a positive way. âLast season wasnât the season we all hoped for but we were still able to finish sixth in the league. We know where we have to improve, the Club also knows and there is a feeling and a confident connection between the Club and the players.â --------------------- WHOOP WHOOP WHOOP !
Starting to think the same Tots, Boss just needs a bit of Pochy loving and he'll came back round and leave the dark side.
Didn't Bale sign a new contract the year previous to selling him? Didn't Suarez sign a new contract last year? I'm sure there are many other examples!
Having him for one more year is better than not. He's our best player imo. We need our best to attract more good'uns
Modric signed a new six year deal the summer before he left. Just means Levy can demand top dollar when he asks to leave next year.
There are just as many who sign deals with the intention of seeing them out. #KickPessimismOutOfFootball
I like what he says about the club's amibitions. I don't know what he has been told (obviously) but on face value he has been convinced we have the right ambitions.
Come on...it's obvious there are inklings Lloris wishes to leave. Levy's "style" is to offer a new contract with a higher salary and ask them to commit (with a gentleman's handshake...ring any bells?!) for one more year.
I think what Lloris saying, mate is, o.k. I'll see how things go. I'm happy to stay if all that you've promised comes about. But, if not......
The Faustian deal has been signed again. Improve sufficiently on-pitch next season (CL etc) to keep the player, or sell in the summer for whatever price Levy deems fit. If Lloris had reached the WC final, IMHO he would have been gone this summer.
