Hope so! Or is that just Levy trying to bump up any future sale price? After all, it was PSG who were reputedly interested...
You'd rather Levy didn't sign a new deal with him so that we would have to sell him at a knock-down price? This is good news however you look at it - Hugo is either staying or will be worth more if we sell him.
I mean, it doesn't explain why Lloris signed. Why would he care about the value. In fact if he wanted away it would hurt him to sign, as it would be tougher to get a new club. The other argument would be that he may have included a better release clause I suppose.
I would think players place little value on contracts in terms of them being tied to the club long term, but once they sign they get a wage increase, better bonuses and their agent probably gets some sort of bonus. Lloris knows that if one of the big clubs like Madrid, PSG come calling and make a bid then the club will end up selling.
Who knows? Why did Bale sign a new contract? why did Suarez? Maybe, as Boss says, they know if the price is right, they can leave anyway. In the meantime, they can see how things go at the club they're with, get more money, improved terms, etc. Having said all this, it's purely conjecture on my part. I hope he intends to stay.
Yes, we are all guessing. I think signing def means he is staying for another year when the talk was he would leave this Summer. So.....
It's probably one of those things where, if we don't get 4th or higher next year, then at least we'll get a decent price for him.
The rumours of Barca giving Vertonghen their best come hither look continue - so take a drink every time the name Toby Alderweireld, Joel Veltman or Jamaal Lascelles is linked with us. Starting after this post, obviously.
The agent of Musa Yahaya has claimed that his client will be joining us on Monday for training. Yahaya is a 16 year old Nigerian wonder kid, supposedly. (Pinch of salt an'all.) The agent also claims that he'll be going out on loan to Celta Vigo after preseason training.
tabloids suggesting that Juventus want Paulinho for £20m. thoughts? I'd bite their hand off and reinvest in a playmaker. I still don't know what Paulinho offers. We have too many players who are all too similar.
