Psychologically it wasn't the best way to start the match when one of the players held up Neymar's shirt during the national anthems. It was like admitting that the team revolved around him and wouldn't be the same without him. The manager should be giving them the belief that the team is more important than any individual and that no-one is irreplaceable.

In fairness, I think almost any team in this World Cup would have hammered Brazil last night, they were that bad.

He smashed it in the Brazilian league, I grant you...

But Fred has 42 in 93 games in that same league...

He's good, obviously, but IMO not near the level of Ronaldo and Messi at 22 years old.

Again I'd disagree Jack ...he fact that Fred scored that number of goals is lergely irrelevant ... he doesn'r 'ghost' past players like a footballing ballerina ... Neymar does also, at the tender age of 22 he is already the sixth highest ever scorer for Brazil ... 40 goails in 56 games I think

... not near the level of Ronaldo at 22? ... some rose tinted specs there Jack ... when first at United Ronaldo was so prone to excess step-overs that he sometimes appeared to forget which direction the goal was in <laugh>

.. for me he is worthy of a place up there with the very best at this precise moment in time ... but it is all about opinions ...

At 22 years old, in the 07/08 season, Ronaldo scored 31 goals in 34 league games for Manchester United.

Not bad for somebody who wasn't sure which direction the goal was in <laugh>

Also, at 22 years old in the 09/10 season, Messi hit 34 goals in 35 La Liga games for Barcelona, not a bad return, hey...

Neymar is a very skillful player, I agree with you, he absolutely laughed in the Brazilian league. But he has some way to go to be compared with those two mentioned above, and other Brazilian greats such as Ronaldo, Ronaldinho etc...

I'm not saying he can't be, he may well hit a goal a game average this coming season... But he hasn't done it yet <ok>
