Another drawn out transfer saga...we're just the fluffer for other teams and players looking for a better deal! It pains me to say it but maybe we aren't that great a proposition for footballers - our two seasons in the Premiership have tarnished our reputation and our stuttering promotion campaign last year was hardly a great advert for the club! BUT we are up and you have to hope that someone half decent is willing to take a chance on us! I suspect that our pursuit of young, up and coming British players may struggle and we'll end up chancing our arm in the lucky dip of unheralded imports and older players that might do a job for a year...
this is my feeling. seemed he might be a bit too good for us and would ultimately hold out for something 'better'. pays not to get your hopes up in the transfer game. I hope we don't end up doing to diametric opposite of that absurd Hughes transfer window, where we bought everyone, and end up with virtually no-one. we badly need to strengthen. hopefully the management team has irons in more fires.
i think thats the reality badger - we're a small club with a tarnished rep. Pains me to say it - we're not the bird with the biggest tits at the party!
It's the reality of our situation, go for players who will jump at the chance to sign, but nobody will have heard of them. Or try and sign quality players who will hold out till the last minute in the hope that a bigger club comes in for them?? We could probably sign the later if we were to offer the kind of deals we did 2 years ago, with the right sort of player that might actually be justified, but due to a fans backlash if it doesn't work again, I doubt we'll be offering any kind of deals like that again. But then if the club did start signing a load of unknowns, I'm sure nobody would be happy with that either. But as it stands we seem to be going for the right sort of players, but if we stand a chance of signing any of them, we'll have to hope that nobody bigger comes in for them and also be prepared to wait till 10.55 on August the 31st before we can hope to sign them. Until we are established in the Prem and the new stadium closer to a reality, this is the situation we are in.
There's a set of guidelines that need to be followed in any transfer saga:- 1) Never try to show ambition - you'll get labelled a mercenary who's prepared to languish in the reserves. 2) Take whatever the club offers - otherwise you're a mercenary. 3) Retire at the top - if you drop from your pinnacle, you're a mercenary after one last pay day. 4) If a player goes to another lower Prem team, let's say for example, Hull, you have to ask "why". 5) If a player goes to a better Prem team you have to slate the board for lack of ambition (while lambasting the player under point 1). 6) If we do buy a player (even if it's for 50 pence) then expect the media to drag up the "big spending QPR" tag while other teams can throw money around like it's confetti with no such labels. I'm sure there's dozens more too.
We've played the waiting game before and still ended up with has-beens and wasters. Of all the clubs starting in the PL this time around it's QPR who most need new blood and who will also need time to build a team understanding. It's possible that we would be better of compromising on our targets to get that done sooner rather than later. Having said that I fully expect us to be making signings well after the season has started as that's the way HR has always operated.
They reckon he's gone to Palace .............. Good, he stuffed around for so long that we don't want or need him. http://www.newsnow.co.uk/A/722969527?-294:802
