But then if you're going to send them that far down, they might as well play in the reserves or youth games. I played for Coalville, who play a league above Hall Rd (or they did when I was there) and the quality is almost Sunday League. It's not a great level to be playing your first competitive season in football at. I think a way round it would be for the club to book friendlies against higher youth teams, or even lower league first teams every month. That way they're playing against better opposition and getting game time, plus there's an added chance they could be spotted for a loan by somebody half decent.
It is no good looking back at the shocking way Hull City has failed to develop players from its youth. It has been going on for years, players who have represented England at youth levels and who when it came to Hull City they were dropped. Players who went through the old YTS scheme and became so fed up with the attitude within the club that they were glad not to get signed up. What we can do is look at the future and feel certain that the club is actually building a foundation. The business of football may be new to our owners, but no one can deny that for the first time in years we have actually a club that is trying to build a future.
Could be interesting... Hull City Official ‏@hullcityteam Good morning Twitter - first news of the day coming up...
Will probably see him more on the bench than harper this year, with harper taking more of a mentor role for eldin and the young 'uns
When I saw that on twitter I presumed it meant other news would be coming up, but maybe just poor phrasing. In the words of Sir Tickler or Ticklingtown, TWT.
Well we knew that was coming anyway, glad to see it done. I think we will see Jak used more in the cups and Europe, keeping Greegsy free for the Premier League. I belive Swansea did it with Tremmel last season.
SB would be in for Bendtner if he could justify the cash to AA. As we have a 14 million strike force, and subs, he will struggle. And we still have to shift dead wood. I am sure we are interested and asking questions, but equally sure we would need to sell first.
Each summer since SB arrived has seen a significant improvement on the squad. With the youth set up also having a root and branch clean up / improvement that can only be good for the future. Blame previous owners/manager for how bad it got. Having spoken with Les Hare and Billy Heath a few times last season on this issue they were very open to taking some of our kids. Heath actually wanted to take 2 of our better ones but SB would not allow it. But i agree it is an area that could be looked at and would help all 3 parties actually. As for North Ferriby this season the signing of Adam Bolder is a master stroke for them at that level. Hope NOT. Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo Fingers crossed. He is supposed to be doing a bucks fizz(making his mind up) by the end of this week.
Lescott, Dawson... wonder who Bruce's 3rd choice CB signing will be? Id like to see us go for Micah Richards who can play both CB & RB... might cost a bit more than £4m though.. failing that, look abroad! dutch, german, french leagues...
