OFFICIAL: Ronald Koeman appointed as the new manager of Southampton Football Club

Koeman played the proper Dutch way at Feyenoord last season (4-3-3, wingers, crosses), but I think you'd assume he'll adapt his tactics here because it's not going to be as simple as quick winger runs, crosses, Pelle heads in. If he thinks he's going to just keep doing that here he's in for a bit of a shock. He's surely aware of that though (even though the Pelle and Tadic signings scream Dutch 4-3-3).

Return of the double sessions... José Fonte and Jack Cork were posting photos from some sofas overlooking the training ground yesterday. Looked pretty nice. Big comfortable grey sofas and flat screen TV's on the walls. Fonte posted that he now has his breakfast at the training ground with a view from the balcony overlooking the training field.

@jankluit: I like to welcome Dusan Tadic to @SouthamptonFC I know him as a wonderfull player like all other players in the team.

Nothing wrong with a cross into the box now and then. In fact there have been plenty of times in the past couple of years when I wished we'd tried it more often, especially with Rickie Lambert in the side.

 

Agreed, I'm just saying it's not something that is going to be as effective as it was in the Eredivisie, simply because defending is a lot better, both in terms of being in the right place to anticipate crosses coming in, and also closing them down quicker at their source. We're going to need to be unpredictable is what I'm going for. Feyenoord didn't really need to be, so just applying their approach to the EPL would be a recipe for failure in my opinion.
