Summer 2014 Transfer rumour thread - Part VI

It's been widely dismissed across the board. Look at the reactions I get when I suggest the club could be sold soon. Not the reactions of people who are giving that BBC report the time of day.

 

Fair enough, I've only dipped into this. As for the report, I hadn't see that until you linked it for me.

 

I have heard there are a few Brazilian internationals going cheap!

 

Good to see they're cutting their inflated wage bill.

 

Heard rumours we might be after Paulinho....hope it's not this one.

 

Bendtner, Henenius, Kozak, Bent, Agbonlahor

Worth a bid for Benteke? He'd be the one who I can see fitting right in. Might be pricey, might have better offers, might not be for sale but I'd love to see him leading the line for us. Would be a real statement of intent as well.

 

Some journalist, a freelancer, tweeting that Saints want to buy Benteke from Villa. Tim Pearson is the guy's name.

 

I suspect we have feelers out everywhere, as it can be difficult to get deals over the line. If one deal doesn't work out, it is better to be near another deal than having to start from scratch.

 

Being linked with a Tours forward Andy Delort.

 

Certainly didn't look like he wanted to be at Villa. We would be risky to get him as he is still a few months away from recovering from his achilles injury. I imagine that this is also the only reason we could get him, as a fully fit Benteke would suit many a top club. But we would be light up front without him and Jay for too many games at which point a loan signing would become nigh-on necessary.

According to some one on Saintsweb we are after Jonathan Tah. Have no idea if true.

 

Haven't heard of him! Had to look him up - 22, French, scored 24 in 36 for Tours FC last season, they play in Ligue 2.

Made me wonder if this was the CB target Guan meant he said he was doubtful we could get.

But also thought:

1. We offer 1st team football
2. Southampton is a 'career path' - great place to develop - see Bale's BT advert
3. Work with a legendary CB every day

 

Jonathan Tah would be ideal.

Wouldn't it be great if we could suddenly sign a good player that we had never even suspected that we were considering...no worrying, no sore fingers from pressing f5, no switching from forum to OS and back....a star just appears clutching the shirt #icandreamcanti.

 

What can Benfica seriously offer that we can't? Apart from guaranteed top 3 finish, champions league football, great weather, great beaches, largest fan club in the world and sardines fresh from the seas every day....
