He was suggesting that because libraries and museums are closing that this wasn't a priority, yet it's a totally different pot.
More ideas I put forward to the council being used with no credit given. I suggested to Hull City Council's regeneration team that they should look at either moving the William Wilberforce statue back to its original location, or to the crossroads at the end of Whitefriargate/Land of Green Ginger, as tourists don't visit the site it's currently situated, meaning it's not fulfilling its potential. I also out forward an idea to glass over Beverley Gate and illuminate it (like the scene from Demolition Man in the museum, or to recreate the gate with a topiary replica, using the original bricks as the base. The proposed new arena is planned for Albion Sq, but surely it would be better to get BHS to relocate and build the new arena as a focal point of the new square? (Obviously carefully moving the BHS mosaic mural to a new location).
in some areas like Whitefriargate for example i'd like to see the council invest some of the money in returning shop frontage back to original designs or at least make signage have less of an impact on the buildings . Next up should be to remove as much of the **** street level "furniture" as possible , from modern ugly lamposts , street signs , **** benches etc etc and as for the Beverley gate plans , this is a great idea and from the very first time i saw an old photograph (possible a kings coronation ) of bunting down Whitefriargate and a mock walled gate temporarily built in its old location - i thought it should be represented again !!!
I think he just challenges everything when he's interviewing someone. Always tries to play devil's advocate.
And maybe encourage the businesses in there to move to a new Whitefriargate ? That idea of tearing off all the ****e fascias down there is a ****ing good one. Strip it all back to it's former glory.
Oh yeah ! And we need someone to find out how Yankeeee burger made the finest burgers i,or you ever ate. Re-open it on the original site and were laughing. It's got to be called Yankeeee burger though, for some reason i'm not yet sure of,but it has.
Can't quite tell, but is the plan to link the station area to the museum quarter? ie - Paragon Sq to new square near BHS then to Queen Victoria Square, down Whitefriagate to Trinity Square on then on to museums or Fruit Market.
As long as this just goes ahead I'll be happy for I am still waiting for the regeneration of the abominable Anlaby Road and I don't think anything will happen to the Lord Line building until it falls down, bit like Jacks (New York Hotel).
Is she wearing a multi-coloured cage on her head? I assume Humber Street will be the next Shoreditch?
