Call me a happy clapper with his head in the sand, but I honestly don't see the need in getting too angsty about things any of us can possibly know. All we do know is that Nicola has moved on for whatever reason and the Manager and a few first teamers have used this as a opportunity to further their ambitions at a traditionally more successful club. (We don't know if they would've stayed under Nicola)
The Board have brought in a big name Manager to steady the ship (it is noticeable that the players that left never even waited to talk to him) and today we have taken the first steps in the transfer market to replace those that have left, not the actions of a Board that has no interest in the playing side of the club in my opinion.

 

Oh I like that snag. I like it quite a lot (although not as much as some people). I presume by elsewhere we mean 'higher' (hopefully).

 

I spose the snag is they spoke to Joe on the phone and he talked them out of it. I'll buy him a pint (or ten) if so.

Presumably we have changed our mind because we have a chance to get someone better.

 

pre-empting miserable interpretation... we've made our expensive signing, now we're going to sign a cheap striker.

 

Judging by the way that Monk says the snag is on our end, you'd think/hope so.

 

might be that at a price point we wanted pelle, but as feyenoord want more there's someone more attractive at the same price.

 

Or they want too much or we want Bony.....

 

hoping there's a better player available at the price feyenoord want, rather than us going for a lesser player.

 

I wonder if this is why the Saintsweb ITKs have been mentioning Danny Ings' name more often recently?

 

I don't know what I want. There's just as much chance of selling to a maniac as there is of selling to a great businessman. It's not about what I believe anyway, it's about what the possibilities are. It's futile to deny this is one.

By the way it's stupid to believe in something just because you want it to be true. I do not do that ever.

 

I can see Ings being played more as a second striker.

 

I was rather hoping for him as well rather than as an alternative.

 

Nearly everything is possible.

 

I was always under the way of thinking that we'd be bringing 2 players in up top. One bigger guy, like a Pellè player - and a smaller, lively guy - like Ings.

 

Well, me too (or, at least, Ings + another if not Pelle) but I still doubt that he'd be the only attacker we'd sign. Maybe they weren't comfortable paying £10mish for both Ings and Pelle, and want Ings for 10 and then another for nearer 5-6
