Not that I wanted to jinx it or anything but.... he seems a dead cert to sign for the club. Reliable twitter sources indicated that the deal is done.

Is he worth the money? Will he be an upgrade on Sagna or will he struggle to adapt? Sagna often struggled with his crossing so I am hoping that if Debuchy does come, he can offer us a new outlet in attack.

    Thoughts?

Better that than losing a top class right back and replacing him with one nowhere near as good <ok>

It would appear it's a done deal and I'm glad we've got we've got it sorted nice and quick.

Solid signing. I thought Aurier was a dead cert, but after seeing him in the world cup his positioning was all over the place. He was playing more like an inside RM than a RB. Decent going forward but we would have been murdered down the right at the back. I'm pleased with the Debuchy signing, he's got premier league experience and already knows the players and styles of teams in this league, should slot in nicely.

Im over the moon with the debuchy signing but i have a feeling he is one of those guys who dosent really care for the sport last season i saw him being interviewed and one of the other french players at Newcastle was translating for him surely he is capable of learning english in the time he has been in the country little things like this put me off players

What part of him not speaking English means he doesn't care for the sport ?

Decent solid signing that should replace Sagna without too much fuss.

We could have started the season with Jenkinson and Bellerin. <ok>

Yup but ultimately we are weaker in a position now.

This guy is going to make us miss Sagna a lot. I hate fullbacks who can't defend.

    Because Sagna is abetter defender.

Also one of the biggest improvements we made last year was having an established back four that had played together for a while.

Have to say I'm pretty pissed Wenger didn't fight to keep Bak. He has been arguably our most consistent performer for years.

It's wrong to say Wenger didn't fight to keep Sagna. The club tried to negotiate a new contract but Sagna chose to reject it.

I think defensively we'll miss Sagna's presence immediately. Him and Koss compensated for Merts' weaknesses a lot. Debuchy just seems a bit too offensively minded.

Sanga was offered a new contract and chose to reject it in favour of a pay rise to sit on the bench at City. He was determined to leave, had Wenger had his way Sagna would still be an Arsenal player, but he's done the next best thing and signed a solid replacement. The criticism is unjustified.

Debuchy won't take that much time to settle in, he already plays with Kos for France, plus them both being French also helps in terms of communication etc. I think Debuchy will fit it in normally.

Defensively Sagna is better but not by much IMO. Debuchy is more offensive minded and has better attacking stats. I think the difference between the two will be minimal. Not to mention Debuchy is already settled in with the French contingent
