Wasn't he pretty keen on a move in January? Not sure where that's come from. I still wouldn't be upset at him coming to Liverpool, looks a decent player from what little I've seen and heard.
Looked decent but good enough for CL? Remains to be seen. Had we not qualified I reckon we'd be in for him but we've obviously upped our targets to Sanchez markovic which is good to see. Looked strong and quick though so reckon he'd do well for west ham if he joined.
He did well enough against England (not sure you can compare England to the CL though). Of course its a risk, but then if he wasn't, he would cost significantly more. He's got significantly more European and international experience than, say, Lallana, and he's younger. I think he would do well for West Ham. Also, we may have upped our targets to Sanchez and Markovic, but neither of them is leaning (yet). That obviously doesn't mean that we shouldn't try, but aiming for isn't getting.
Guillem Balague @GuillemBalague · 1m Convinced Alexis will be an Arsenal player very soon. He wants 2 play 4 Wenger. And the transfer fee won't be huge. Sound business by AFC FFS, obviously we both wanted him
Of course; I said that doesn't mean that we shouldn't try. I guess the question in this case is whether The Plank counts as "realistically aiming" or "settling for average". In January the general opinion seemed to be the former, now more like the latter. As I said, I'm not an expert on him by any means, but if we had bought him in January, would we now be regretting it?
i dont reckon we would be, think he would be a good option to have from the bench definitely, last season he may have rotated and got game time, but now he is a better option to have on the bench than Aspas.
Talking about realistically aiming: Yaya to Pool? YAYA TOURE has no intention of staying with Manchester City and is open to a move to Chelsea or Liverpool this summer. Yaya Toure wants out of Manchester City Toure has publicly criticised City in recent weeks, firstly alleging that the Citizens failed to acknowledge his birthday and then claiming they denied him an opportunity to spend time with his dying brother. Will City deny both those claims, it is clear that the relationship between club and player remains tense with some suggesting that Toure is agitating for a move or improved terms at the Etihad. And now reports in France suggest that Toure is determined to force through a move before the start of next season. While it is thought that PSG are Toure's most likely destination, it has been suggested that Chelsea or Liverpool remain alternative options. Toure has previously denied that he wants to leave but French publication Le Parisien quote an unnamed Ivory Coast international teammate as saying: "He has accumulated too many grudges against [Manchester City's] leaders and he will not stay with them. "He will do everything to ensure his departure this summer." Toure signed a new four-year deal with City in April 2013 and it seems unlikely that the Manchester club would sell the midfield titan to a Premier League rival. It now remains to be seen whether Toure is determined to force through a move, and, if so, whether Chelsea or Liverpool can see off PSG in the race for the 31-year-old. http://www.express.co.uk/sport/foot...-Liverpool-on-alert-with-Man-City-quit-threat I won't hold my breath.
maybe that's why we still have the other Toure not sure how i would feel about us going for him, is he another Luis,Tevez type etc. spoilt brats players now days, esp prem players.
No to Toure. Brilliant player when given the freedom to attack but we'd expect too much of him defensively. He's shone for city with a holding player behind him so he doesn't have to defend, much like Gerrard 6/7 years ago. Add the fact he's 31? And on 200k+ a week and we couldn't afford him. He'll prob go to a foreign team as city won't want to sell to a rival.
"and then claiming they denied him an opportunity to spend time with his dying brother." "Toure is agitating for a move or improved terms at the Etihad." That will paper over that will it? Outrageous if true.
Yaya would be a bad signing- ridiculous attitude at a premium price despite an advanced age. For all the reasons mentioned above. I hope we avoid the Prima-donna (and pre-Madonna) types!
We thought we got ripped off for a few players, well Fulham have paid £11m for Ross McCormack from Leeds.
I can see Konoplyanka going the same route as Tevez and Mascherano. He'll be sold on to a bigger team in a year or two and Wham will make a nice little profit. Really good player for 12mill, wish we were still interested.
The fee has been changed by SSN to £9.5million, if he really is good and Brendan thinks so, we should go in and play hardball, we could probably get him for less than that as he looks the type of player to reject West Ham knowing a bigger team is in for him.
I read that and thought the same. £11m for a Championship player is ridiculous, Leeds must be pissing themselves they can buy half a squad with that. Fulham have spent too long in the Prem and have forgotten the value of Championship players. Didn't they pay the same for the Greek, who has international and Euro experience?
