Not saying you don't make a good point, but there is also an element of a group of people with similar aims (they want out) talking together and confirming their world viewpoint. Most people will have been in a situation where they have performed a character assassination on an absent colleague and afterwards feeling a bit bad about it.

I can't see how you can take rumours coming from a player who was forcing us to sell basically as being close to the truth. I just think you haven't brought in to the new board. If you want to base things on rumours why not start questioning Cortese? There was certainly plently of rumours how much of a dick he was. Le Tiss was having a go at least once a month saying how the non playing staff hated Cortese etc. How do we know Le Tiss wasn't right?

I'm not saying it's true, I'm saying you can't just say "nah that's bull****" and rule it out. I'm the one with the open mind here. I have little doubt that some of the non-playing staff disliked Cortese. Whether they had a good reason for that is another matter. He did things that weren't popular with everyone. As it turns out that can be quite the trait in business.

It's being forced to give up some power. Clearly he didn't think it was worth his time continuing in this job without that power.

I think many of us try to have open minds. I see the board has made a few mistakes (Krueger speaking in public is one), but also hope they can learn from their mistakes. I do not mind the players wanting to play for bigger clubs if they do it like Shaw and Lambert did.
The way I see it is we had a decent first season and the big clubs started to take a look at our best players. We then had a brilliant season and played great football, which made the bigger clubs act now they had seen out best players can handle the Prem. It's nothing to do with ambition it's because there are much bigger clubs then us that can offer more money and Europe.

Is that referring to everyone on this board, or the entire human race?

The problem is Cortese made us and the players dream and think of what could have happened. Champions League and top 4 etc etc, the fact is, it is far harder to get where he wanted with out spending a **** load of cash. He raised all of our expectations to a crazy high level. Now he is gone we are left with the reality, you can not get where he wanted as quick as he thought(with out doing a City).

Liebherr still has the same dreams but wants to do it a more stable way. Building up our revenue and selling players when they are high in demand to stregthen our team as a whole. Some players(and fans) took in Cortese's ideas too much so can not see how Kat will go about it. We are still ambitious but are doing it at a slower and more stable rate. This is seen to be too long of a wait for some players so they choose the quicker route and ask to leave.

Cortese's **** or bust strategy was effective in that we quickly put together a first team capable of contending top four positions. Sadly the squad was neglected.

    This from tribal football/Mirror

Everton have made a late move for FC Twente midfielder Dusan Tadic.

The Mirror says Everton have made a late bid for the Serbian international midfielder.

And that has left Southampton boss Ronald Koeman sweating after agreeing an £8.7million fee with the Dutch club.

Koeman sees Tadic, 25, as the perfect replacement for Adam Lallana.

A lot of successful business people are psychopaths, or have many of the same traits as psychopaths. They're able to exert forceful control over an organisation, and if their vision and ideas are good then they are successful. As Cortese was the guy with the vision I bet he shares a few traits at least - the kind that mean he can be quite the arsehole. Obviously don't know if he was asked to stay on by Kat, but I doubt he would be happy to relinquish control.

We are all tending to forghet that despite a brilliant season we dominated many games without scoring and many without winning. MP may have decided he'd taken that group of players as far as some could go. I include Adam and Rickie in that As Beef has said we needed to strengthen and now we have the manager and funds to do that. Exciting times ahead.

Can't judge them on outbound players. Lambert would have gone either way, as would Shaw. Lallana made the prospect of him staying untenable, as Lovren seems to attempting.

Nor can we judge on Pochettino. He wanted to go to a bigger club to earn more and get noticed by the real giants. Maybe they were a little naive in not recognising what he was doing, but lots of us got suckered in too. Krueger and Reed told us they'd get a good replacement in, and they did. Koeman's record isn't perfect (and the canonised Nigel Adkins, while brilliant for us, has hardly set the world on fire since moving to Reading), but no manager's is, really, and the ones that are close are aiming at much bigger clubs than us.

The kit, too. We've all seen the monstrosity Cortese apparently wanted to put us in, but they recognised what we wanted and changed it.

The Cork/Fonte contract stuff, and apparent lack of communication at the start are definite mistakes though. Recently though, the squad as a whole seems much happier, bar Twatbeard and Slobodan.

On the whole, there's plenty more good than bad, so far, and I'm willing to give them the benefit of the doubt on their mistakes, and just put them down as mistakes made by people inexperienced in their jobs.

The Mirror stating that Everton have made a late move to hijack one of our bids? That has never ever happened before right?
