I think he owes us more than one season, but you are right, Joe!, it is all about him. He is acting like a child...it's not fair and I'm going home and taking my ball with me.

I'd considered that too. Who can tell what the future will bring? Perhaps the shirt will acquire a certain cache what with him being the star of an interactive soap opera broadcast live from Mars; or a distinct notoriety following his conviction as a part-time time-travelling hitman; or maybe he'll just be making occasional pundit appearances on CBeebies Football Splat on Sunday mornings (broadcast live from Mars) and the value will sky rocket among the under 5s. I'm just rambling now, really.

well I think that these sods owe a team more than 1 year if they sign these multi-year contracts and all that goes with them. But thats how it is now with these over hyped, over paid, over idolised footballers ( Rickie Lambert excepted ), and there's sod all we can do about it.

I think that's what I said, so of course you're right! Cue game of "I said it first" to show how mature we are in our reflections on the situation.

Interesting that the price is about the same that Fulham have just paid for McCormack!

I'm sure the wages may be a little more for Tadic though. Crazy this transfer malarky innit.

Is it time to structure contracts differently?

    Eg: year 1 = 40k per week; year 2 = 45k per week; year 3 = 50k per week; year 4 = 60k per week

    Or whatever numbers.

I'm pretty sure contracts work like this already, with a % pay rise incuded in them. The % will vary depending on the teams performance I would've thought

Isn't that how that giant Birmingham striker's contract worked?

It's a pretty common way to structure contracts on FM. Yearly wage increases, promotion wage increases and so on. Loyalty bonuses are also a thing.

Performance and promotion bonuses cost us a lot over just two years...can you imagine what Nicola pocketed alone (btw not suggesting he didn't earn it).

Lots. We've heard that he made more than any other chairman, haven't we? Someone posted that one here, I'm sure.

I should think a lot of chairmen are owners, have alternative incomes, and no requirement to take an income from their club. Comparable figures might be CEOs, but even then, their owner/chairman might take a roll in the club and so they won't be rewarded the same way cortese was when left to run it all single handed.

QPR's CEO was very modestly paid by comparison IIRC.

Nicola would also have been paid a lot because he was probably highly paid in his previous job and Markus insisted he should run the club....though I doubt he needed much arm bending.

Article on Daily Express site saying Bindippers are selling Lucas to fund the Lovren deal...looks like our "hardball" tactics are paying off and the big boys are throwing ridiculously large sums for our disaffected players regardless of their true value.

Rather than crying ourselves to sleep I think we should be laughing at these clubs willing to pay these highly inflated fees for players who reached the grand position of 8th in the EPL. If I was one of their supporters I would be getting worried about the sanity of my club

Can't wait for this guy to go. He has treated this club, the players and us fans like ****. The sooner he is gone the better.

I'm worried that it's not the players (and manager) who have all suddenly become greedy and wanting to leave, but rather instead that the club has changed it's ambitions from what they promised those players in the past.

Cortese had his vision of Champions League football, but the way things are looking, we're a selling club and going to be battling to survive once again. Hope I'm wrong and it turns out these players are just greedy.

In Lovren's case, he just used us a stepping stone. I have no problem with that at all. What I do have a probably with is how he has acted.
