Definitely mate, he's still very good and very fit, he's easily still good enough for the Prem.

Looks to me like the lads weighed up the cities to live in and chosen that way, and fair play for that. 39k a week is hardly scrape by money of course...

Yeah, maybe he hoping it's a clean slate for him over there like nobody has heard of Chezney Cole over there, so he's probably gonna get a bit of class feline action.

Either that or he intends to cause more hell and destruction and thinks, "It doesn't matter what I do, who I rape, where I publically urinate, who I throw drinks on, which sluts I have back to my cocaine party... Mario Balotelli will always do something worse".

The tribunal will set the fee and they're generally not big numbers, Blackpool haven't got a prayer of getting the sort of money they're talking about.

And anyone who thinks we're paying an unproven Premier League player £50k a week, is ****ing mental.

Is there a <whistle> missing from your statement? He hasn;t gone for money as he's only on £39000 per week? I'm on less than £23000 per year - Every footballer is after a payday - pay cut from £100+k to £39k isn;t exactly going to hit him hard is it!

But the rumours are that is what he's on lambretta - only rumours but, as they say, no smoke without fire - you don;t know and we don;t know - we're all speculating - But Jelavic is only proven for 6 games a season and he's on that much isn;t he?

Well, City got 'up to' £6.5 million for Sturridge, in the end they got closer to £5 million as he didn't play many games. Fee will be similar.

The wage will be high, but I doubt 50k, but the lad has been smart, he's already talked to Inter about getting top level experience, and he'll be off there, for nowt, at the end of his deal.

I'm just glad we never went for him, frankly.

To be fair, you've got an owner who's a bit of a mental fella. It wouldn't surprise me if either Hull or QPR started paying silly money for average players like this, just to flesh out their squads. Bruce knows what he's got to do and the owner seems keen to back him, maybe it's not as ludicrous as it sounds.

I don't think 50k is that far fetched.

Hull will have approached it as a real coup, when in reality, as far as I'm aware, there was no English competition.

When he came back from his few days with Inter it was clear he was staying in England for a while, I think most clubs stepped back at this point, it's clear that if he develops he plans to shoot abroad.

Did anyone else move for him though? I don't think they did, after all, he was way short for Palace.

He could be decent given a run, but I certainly wouldn't have wanted us to be the ones taking the punt on that happening.

I'm sure I dont need to explain myself, but here goes.
My point was, he could probably gone to any number of clubs who would have offered him a whole load more than £39k pw but he chose a club he wants to play for and not just gone to the club who offered him the most money..
A welcome change in this day of greedy footballers I'd say.

    I agree wholeheartedly mate.

He could have took easy money in Madrid, and been fighting for CL title. He clearly fancied something on a professional level about Roma.

I agree, it's not like he's gone to the MLS for the pay day like so many have done when they can still cut it in the top leagues. Beckham, Henry, Cahill and Defoe could all still compete at the top level when they made their moves. I like what Cole has done. Chance to add more major trophies to his CV, he's not interested in money, he's interested in legacies. Ashley Cole is looking to be mentioned in the list of best ever fullbacks, not the richest and there's a huge difference between the two imo.

Think he knew games would be harder to come by there, the lad wants to play as much footy as possible at as high a level as possible. An astute move I think.

Probs means Roma will be selling Jose Angel, who's a very good attacking LB.

The tribunal fee for Sturridge was £3.5m, there were some add-on's, but as you say, most weren't triggered and that was a move between two of the biggest clubs in the country. I don't expect the tribunal panel to look at the same numbers for a player moving from Blackpool to Hull and there's the £1.5m Palace loan fee that's knocked off whatever they do decide, I don't expect it to end up costing us more than £2-3m tops.

As for the wages, it's one thing paying £50k a week for the likes of Huddlestone, Long and Jelavic, as they're already proven Premier League players, but Ince has only played a handful of Premier League games and is yet to prove himself. I've no idea what we are paying, but common sense would suggest it's more likely to be under £30k.

Stoke are the other team that were in for him, but I don't know how serious the interest was.

I'd think the fee will be similar to Sturridge as the increased TV money will be taken into account, like I said, I doubt it'll be 50k a week, would be a ludicrous amount.
