Not that odd. The lad clearly intends to use it as a stepping stone, run down his deal, walk, and get another massive signing fee. Knobhead.
It's the way the game has been going since Bosman started it. It's proper mercenary style but it would certainly get rid of ridiculous transfer fees.
There's a good chance the Tribunal will set their price based on his 6 month loan at palace last season which cost 1.5m. In which case the longer the contract the more they could have to pay. This way they can renew after a year having already delt with the transfer fee. 2 year=6m fee, 3 year=9m(which was the price surgested for his compo). That's my logic anyway and will guess that the fee will be set at 6m.
Which now goes to the player in bumped-up wages over his contract length. They were complaining of being slaves being sold when they did not want to go, now they put themselves in the slave market to the highest bidder. Not a word of "happy here" or loyalty.
Never will now, players have cynically made themselves a commodity available to highest payer. Classic cases are those going for their last payday in USA, Russia (FFS) or Italy when they could give something back to our football by going to our lower leagues. Add fees for being pundits etc, they just cannot lose.
To be fair they were going to the US in the 60's. Lineker went to Japan in what the 80's or 90's. I can understand the easy payday at the end of their career. I can't see it going the way it is forever though.
By comparison the wages in '60s-'80s were peanuts to what was on offer abroad at time. Today's top players are multi millionaires but still want top dolloar without too much hassle. Be difficult to see any top players becoming managers in future as they will be too rich to have to put their perceived reputations on the line.
Good to see Ashley Cole signing for Roma on a reportedly £39k per week. He's gone to play football and not for one last payday.
Don't rate young Ince at all personally. He's a championship standard footballer at best living on his dads name in the game. Hull filling their squad in the usual Bruce style. Lots of expensive, over paid mediocre players which will produce lots of overrated mediocre football, just as he did here.
Think he's a good squad player with plenty of pace about him, good player to have on their books considering their congested fixtures this season but if those wages are true, Bruce has had another ****ter. That's not a sustainable way to build a football club especially with such a volatile owner, he gives not a **** about their fans and wouldn't hesitate to shut his wallet for good if they pushed him too far, they're playing a dangerous game. If Bruce has a decent season he'll be off anyhow, he'll get a better job at a much bigger club like Villa or West Ham.
Yeah, seen that and that's quality I think. I know he's probs got £20million plus in the bank, but supposedly Liverpool & Real were prepared to give him 100k a week. Fair play to the lad.
He'll be class in that league as well, can't see him being given the run around by anybody, he'll be the boss in Italy, him and Nemanja.
