Never been a major supporter of Ashley Cole but admit he was extremely good for us over a long period. He was back to his best when Jose FINALLY had no option but to bring him back for seasons end. .Never understood why Azpi on the right and Cole on the left was not our best line up. Would have liked him to get a 1 year deal, but understand Romas' deal is best for him. Wish him well, he's sure gone to a great City, and maybe Roma can begin the climb back in Seria A.

There were times when Ash was rated best in the world as left back! Azpil has definitely started to show the future of the spot is now his and with Cole's contract running out there was no choice but to let him go, along with Lamps! Good though, that he's gone abroad! I'd have hated to think he could have lined up against us in the Prem!

Shocked that we didn't keep him for another year but delighted that he hasn't stayed in this league. Still as good as anybody at this level and will do well at Roma.

How come you weren't a fan CP?

Best left back the Premier League has seen. Farewell Ash, all the best in Italy.

    Best of luck Ash.

Bit of a no brainer for us. Was on massive wages and barely playing. Time for all to move on.

I rate Bertrand. Yes he isn't as good as Cole, yes he isn't a world great, but I think he can be with 2-3 years experience in our first team.

Wasnt keen on his behaviour off field and attitude. Seemed like a serious big headed dope for a while there. After his divorce he grew up a lot and last couple of years no problems. Never had any problems with his performances, as you say, probably best ever. Hard not to take a dislike to some players, even when you know nothing about them personally. I did change my mind on Ashley a couple of years ago, and am sorry to see him go.

    You are right, CP.

Even though he is best left back in the Prem for past decade, no one likes him.

Even Matty Harding Lower only sings his name begudringly
