As we worry about such journeymen as Remy and Caulker, a genuine titan has died. Too early for me, but my Dad always had Di Stefano and Puskas up there with the greats we are more familiar with - Pele, Maradona, Cruyff.

He had a remarkable career both as player and manager, and helped to create the most powerful brand in football - Real Madrid. Of their 10 European Cups/Champions Leagues he helped them to five in a row in the late fifties.

He'll be remembered long after Suarez and Neymar.

One of the all-time greats. The only player to score in five successive European Cup Finals. More and more of the great players from the 50s and 60s are leaving us, RIP...

As with you Stan, he is before my time. I'm just reading Terry Venables' latest autobiography and he lists Di Stefano in his finest ever team. If Tel rates him that highly, then he was one of the best.

    RIP <rose>

Before my time but I've seen plenty of footage to know that he was a rare talent.

    RIP my man

Well said, mate ..................... some names vanish with a blink of an eye, others, like Di Stefano will always remain to the foreground.

I wish I had seen him play in the flesh instead of just a few times on television & clips since his retirement.

This is of course very subjective, but from my memories of those viewings he is THE best player that I've seen.

    RIP Alfredo. A true legend
