http://www.mcfc.co.uk/News/Club-news/2014/July/Johnny-Marr-to-headline-City-Live Pretty cool though by Man City.
They are top class in the way they manage the relationship with the fans and the people of Manchester generally. I'm happy to say that City have followed my suggestion and we now have a half decent YouTube channel....like MCfc have had for a few years now. The ideas are already out there at the leading clubs. All it takes is someone to give a **** at City, note the ideas, copy and /or adapt them.
We'd have complaints about the cost of the tickets. Then we'd have complaints it's being held at the KC. We'd then have complaints about the owner trying to get more money out of people and how he's trying to buy peoples support. Still, nice way to gouge more out of their fans unless its for charity, which it doesn't say.
I think £15 to a event which includes a iconic songwriter/guitarist and a top comedian is cracking value.
I take it you didn't enjoy Allam's very own Squash tournament & the Polo event he gave to the people of Kingston upon Hull. Two sports that are engrained the very fabric of the City. In the words of Maximus Decimus Meridius "are you not entertained?"
Man City's involvement in the community is a model that every club should follow, whereas we're a perfect example of what not to do.
Yes yes thats what we want a repressive regime owning our club who are using it for good publicity for their country "Nicholas McGeehan, UAE researcher for HRW, describes the country in the light of the recent trial as increasingly "a black hole" for many basic human rights: "In this situation, a Premier League club is being used as a branding vehicle to promote and effectively launder the reputation of a country perpetrating serial human rights abuses," he said. "That should be of concern to football supporters as well as human rights organisations." http://www.theguardian.com/football/2013/jul/30/manchester-city-human-rights-accusations Money no object buys you a lot of good publicity.
At Man City you are encouraged to hang around the ground after the game, be entertained, eat drink and be merry in a non prawn sandwich way by people who are good at what they do and are Man City fans. At the KC the attitude, is 'On you way- the game's over'
I said the way Man City football club interact with their local community is excellent and it is, however that reflects on the Dubai royal family is a side issue.
One of his family members works there (WARNING DUTCH - THIS IS PUBLIC KNOWLEDGE SHARED BY OLM ON HERE - No need to delete this), and in the Events area, so, not so surprising is it?
