I would imagine Lewis's last pit stop was just being cautious dueto their lead - simply no need to rush and potentially make a mistake. His 1st just looked like a sticky wheel nut which is not uncommon in itself.

Oh I do, love the Italians, but don't expect to meet specification as you understand it, Belgian and French also great.

I think it's very sad that this forum seems to have degenerated into so much "playground-eque" name calling and lack of respect. It's almost as if some people have had a few too many drinks or something! I had been wondering why I was seeing less posts from some people on here and I guess this is why. It is beyond me that some people would rather spend their time angrily typing a vitriol towards someone on a forum instead of appreciating what they're seeing on track. Utterly baffling!

Please guys, can we just all take it down a few notches and not clog up the forum with the verbal abuse? It doesn't help whatever point you think you're trying to make and it certainly doesn't add anything to the discussion. It just means that the forum will invariably become less popular and less enjoyable to read.

Onto the race (which is what this forum is for after all!)...

There were some excellent passes (Alonso and Bottas spring to mind) and the quality of the driving in the various on track battles was very good. I'm pleased that McLaren had a better race than expected, especially Button who I needed a strong race. Hopefully that should help his chances for next year after what Ron said earlier in the week. When one considers the processions that tracks such as Abu Dhabi and Bahrain tend to be, it astounds me that people could complain about a fairly good race such as we saw. Okay, it wasn't a classic but there was some good racing and it was entertaining. It certainly sets things up nicely for Germany, I'm sure Merc will be anxious to put on a good show at their home race.

Was thinking earlier, was the whining between Vettel and Alonso on the team radio apparent between Michael and Mika in the late 90's?

But mercedes needs to look into those pit stops anyway. It is happening too often ,...one thing or the other. They need to get a sorted out one way or the other. 1.7 seconds slower than your team mate is a lot of tim.

I think this transcript was interesting too. Hamilton's engineer telling him no one is improving and then blip..everyone improves. So it wasn't Hamilton alone who got tricked by the conditions.. His pitwall that should haven known what the conditions were around the track...they got it wrong too. I think Hamilton should have carried on still.

Q3 0:36 Lewis Hamilton Peter Bonnington It’s pretty slippery out here…
Q3 Peter Bonnington Lewis Hamilton OK Lewis. If you don’t think you can do a lap, then let Nico go. Let Nico go. If you think you can complete the lap, then carry on as you are.
Q3 0:01 Nico Rosberg Tony Ross Tell Lewis that he needs to speed up!
Q3 Tony Ross Nico Rosberg Copy, copy!
Q3 0:00 Dave Robson Jenson Button OK Jenson, keep pushing. Keep pushing. There could be a lot of time to find in sector three.
Q3 0:00 Gianpiero Lambiase Sergio Perez Perez had begun his final out-lap in front of the Mercedes drivers but they overtook him at the exit of Stowe.
Checo… What happened, mate? We’re down to P7.
Q3 Sergio Perez Gianpiero Lambiase [sighs]
Q3 Gianpiero Lambiase Sergio Perez Checo, why did we let the cars through after Stowe? Why did we let the cars through after Stowe, mate?
Q3 Sergio Perez Gianpiero Lambiase Because I had very cold tyres. I went off into Copse. I had no temperature to do the lap.
Q3 0:00 Tony Ross Nico Rosberg And that’s pole position! Well done, Nico! Go strat one, box, box, box. Really good job, really good job.
Q3 Nico Rosberg Tony Ross That’s damn awesome! Come on!
Q3 0:00 Guillaume Rocquelin Sebastian Vettel P2! Atta boy!
Q3 Sebastian Vettel Guillaume Rocquelin OK guys. Kept our heads cool. Good job. I tell you, this kind of rain… England is the only place in the world where you can see this! It’s not necessarily nice, but it’s unique.
Q3 0:00 Lewis Hamilton Peter Bonnington The track’s… slower.
Q3 Peter Bonnington Lewis Hamilton So currently no one finding time, Lewis. So no one improving.
Q3 Peter Bonnington Lewis Hamilton No reply broadcast.
OK Lewis, I’m afraid that last sector really picked up some pace. So we’ve been bumped mate to… so we’re now down in P6.

There's just no way to discuss certain things with any kind of rationality. It just defaults to the usual crap that we see repeatedly and it's becoming quite tedious. I don't particularly want to, but I've considered finding pastures new for enjoying some F1 debate and banter.

    Your views are unjustified.

Looking at the topics on this forum are you confident that you would be better off somewhere else?

Which posters are causing you discomfort?

    Miggins, Hans and BamalamaFizzVaj?

Hans has said that he will in future produce posts that are relevant to F1. Great news because I think he has good contributions to make.

Miggins should consider himself extremely lucky that his childish obnoxious offensive attitude to every person meets with the full approval of the moderators.

Looking back on this thread, yes all 23 pages, miggins has not produced one single post that what not predicated by his personal hatred of LH. But he gets away with it.

He takes threads off topic and introduces none motorsport issues that he clearly does not understand. But gets away with it.

The good thing abut this forum is the quantity of people who are willing to discuss the subject and exchange views, opinions, links and facts.

It is extremely annoying to read a thread, in order to gain knowledge, only to be subjected to some obnoxious juvenile idiot lecturing people on a subject he quite clearly is incapable of understanding.

My views are unjustified? Not sure why...

No posters are causing me particular discomfort.. It's just the monotonous way we repeatedly go down the same path.

Despite some really good talking points from the race this weekend, one subject dominates and it's particularly dull. I get that people are bored and frustrated with the Merc dominance, but it doesn't mean we have to suffocate the discussion.

    I guess it's just boredom.

I'm abroad and didn't watch the race. I see there's been a lot of fall out for no sensible reason whatsoever. I suppose this was guaranteed to happen :(

As a Hamilton fan I'm surprised you find that type of behaviour unacceptable.

As to what I said to Ernie, it was a tongue in cheek remark that obviously hit a nerve. Then I explained the nature of Xenophobia, and included pretty much the whole of humanity in my indictment INCLUDING MYSELF , the few people who rise above are anomolies, people like the dalai lama, are very very rare exceptions. And pretty much all of my complaints about the race were to do with the application of the rules, as in why didn't they restart from the beginning as the rules state they should (no way they completed a lap in under 1.48 behind a safety car from a standing start with full fuel loads), why the original grid positions weren't used as they should have been, and why both Alonso and Vettel escaped punishment for consistently flouting the rules.

I stopped when Ernie said what he does for a living as I probably would say something that would get me banned, because, quite frankly, the large food corporations are possibly the most morally bankrupt companies the world has ever seen.

Look guys, its inevitable, we all like F1 to some degree, we all don't necessarily appreciate each others views regarding the peripheral issues, even Miggins !!! has a perfect right to state his point of view. Maybe the site need to be configured differently and more easily separate out any posts that are off topic, so that focus remains in appropriate areas.

I too get fed up with continual futile argument, but it has to be dealt with, otherwise what do we do, bugger off and go through the same somewhere else.

My mate Miggins and I have exchanged views before and no doubt will again, I am simply trying to educate the guy !!!!!!

Miggs if you are ever going to be Close to Ashby de la Zouch PM me and I give you my mobile number and we can arrange for you to buy me a pint.

Article 41 states that the race will be restarted under the safety car.

Article 41.3 of F1's Sporting Regulations states: 'In all cases the order will be taken at the last point at which it was possible to determine the position of all cars. All such cars will then be permitted to resume the race.”

The rules do not state original grid positions.

It is possible to determine positions at any point on the track.

Have you worked out how to read the simple timing data yet or are you still convinced that the official timing report is claiming that Rosberg was 2 laps ahead of Hamilton as well as being 2 laps behind him when in fact it clearly shows him as being 15 secs behind Hamilton not 15 secs behind the lapped car in front. If you can't get something as simple as that right then how can you expect anyone to take seriously anything you post.

I would take you up on that offer if I were ever in the area, I'm sure we would have a 'lively debate' about a number of issues, try to right the wrongs of the world, stagger from the drinking hole and depart as friends. I get on okay with Manny, and we were both banned for digging each other out not so long ago.

If it did happen you would have to do a quick ten-minute study of Asbergers though, just so you could bang on the table when I start drifting into aspie mode, something the internet lacks, alas.

every race I was ever in that got red-flagged was restarted from the beggining of the last completed lap, usually at some cost to me, the last time it happened I went from 4 seconds behind 5th to 19th and a lap down because the red came out just after 5th crossed the line. As you can imagine I was pretty ****ed off, but rules are rules and shoudn't be applied arbitrarily like they seemed to be all day Sunday, I found the restart and the lack of penalties for Vettel and Alonso to be absurd considering Austria qualifying and that Alonso was given a warning but didn't stop doing it.

Can't be worse than dealing with some of the tossers at work !!!!
