SLOVENIAN international midfielder Nejc Pečnik is eager to try his hand at British football again, and admits reported interest from Celtic is ‘flattering’. The 28-year-old, who has scored four goals in 24 appearances for his country, had a brief spell with Sheffield Wednesday in the 2012/13 season, but missed a penalty on his debut. And now the Red Star Belgrade player - who has experience of playing in Portugal, the Czech Republic, Russia and his homeland as well as Serbia - is keen to give British football another crack. He said: “It is flattering if Celtic are really interested in me. “Unfortunately I only read about this in media, I have not had any contact with the club. “But I would be happy to return to Britain, even at Championship level. “When I was at Sheffield, the manager gave up on me too soon. I’m sure that I could play a prominent role in this league.”
Celtic look favourites to sign Stoke and Ireland international Jonathon Walters in a £3million deal. The hard-working forward has been deemed surplus to requirements at Stoke City and Is set to be sold however Celtic expect strong competition from Crystal Palace
Reports late last night emerged from Iraqi media suggest that Celtic have made an official bid for Humam Tariq, who has recently signed for Al Ahli, one of the biggest teams in the United Arab Emirates. However, Al Ahli didn’t have the option of playing him as he was only 17 at the time. Now that he has turned 18, they have the choice of playing him. There has recently been a change in management at the club though, and it is said that the new manager wants to see what he is capable of in their pre-season tour of Germany later this month before making a decision on the player. I’ve never heard of the player, and I’m sure that anyone reading this will be the same, but he is considered one of the most prominent talents that has emerged from Iraq in the last two years. Going by the videos on YouTube (come on, we all do it with players we’ve never heard of), he looks like a player with bags of pace and a wide array of skills and trickery. Here’s a link to two of the videos, http://youtu.be/EwGCR80TKkQ and http://youtu.be/vU-APED419Q. There is no mention of any transfer fees that Celtic have bid, only word from a ‘source in the management of Al Ahli’ that the club ‘have received a formal offer from Celtic’. Maybe over the next couple of days we will see the story progress. I’d like to also mention that I seen this story on twitter, from the excellent Celtic account @Celtic_Ar. Here’s a link to the story as well (which will need to be translated), http://www.iraqfpg.com/Docs.ArabicViewer/5137e714-2b77-4ea6-a5f0-20f11022550d/Default.aspx http://josephruddy.wordpress.com/2014/07/06/celtic-make-bid-for-iraqi-midfielder-humam-tariq/
Who knows Pud, his goalscoring record is not great so maybe he is just what we''ve been looking for, another striker who can't score.
Walters is ****ing ****. he would be a terrible signing. i would hope that this is pure lazy journalism, linking us with any **** because they are irish. i really do hope this is the year we sign ian harte though...
Sorry Liverpool **** us, we **** you. The new way of things. At least you have other keepers who are more than good enough for your league.
Your board has sold every asset it has, your board ****ed you not Liverpool. Fraser won't accept Championship football.
Lambert, Lallana, Shaw, possibly Lovren.......I'm stuck. If players are going to be little bitches and start whining that they want to be at bigger clubs then we're doing the right thing selling them. Don't want the pricks here. As for assets we still have: Boruc, Clyne, Chambers, Fonte, Wanyama, Cork, Schneiderlin, Davis, Ramirez, Rodriguez, oh and something like £100m in the transfer budget. Thanks for the concern but I'm sure we'll be fine. We'll start our reparations with Forster, thanks. Might be back for Van Dijk as well.
£20m for Forster and Van Dijk would suit me. You don't need Artur. Stick Gordon or Zaluska between the sticks and they'll be fine. They'll barely have anything to do.
