Not really excited by any of the transfers or serious links so far. Lallana is good, not worth £25m. Better bring him on than Allen or Aspas. Lambert is a good deal at £4m. Not seen much of Can, I imagine he will be a replacement for Lucas. Loveren I like, solid defender, but how much do we have to pay? Origi gives us nothing imo. No imidiate impact, no better for the future than lads we already have. I've seen a bit of Markovic, doesn't seen to be much to shout about. £25m is ****ing steep. Lot of money spunked up the wall without sorting out the leaky defence (yet). Bit disappointed so far tbh. Shaquiri I would be excited about, Sanchez would be awesome, but id be amazed if we got him. See how the summer goes though.
My worry is that all the signings are attackers bar Can. Seriously worried by that more than anything. It will certainly keep Raheem, Coutinho, Suso, Studge, etc on their toes.
I've said this a few times now. I'm starting to worry we might get too many new players and the fluidity of the team of last season will be lost. On the other hand, we need a squad that can compete on all fronts. Hopefully the new ones will be used wisely and we don't get too many thrown in the deep end at once. All of these things are the test of a young manager's skills, let's hope he's up to it.
Young players to boot BUT.... all of these players have played in multiple compeitions, being the Europa or CL, league, league cup, dealing with CL chasing teams, etc. That is a good sign too. Again, so many attacking but can't think we won't get a defender or two in as well.
I guess there's no pleasing us eh...we moan about a light squad and we moan when we sign loads of players I think to a certain extent we already know the fluidity will be disrupted simply by the loss of Suarez. He's probably the most talented footballer I've ever seen at Anfield and there's no way of replacing him like for like because there just ain't anyone else like him. To a certain extent Brodders has to start again anyway. Hopefully the big difference between us this season and the spuds last year is that we are going back into the CL whereas they weren't. I'm not overly excited by the signings (or rather the vfm of the signings) but what can we do except enjoy the ride eh? Safe to say we don't look like we are going to be any LESS attacking than last season and I've got to admit....last season we were damn good fun to watch
Don't take this this wrong way, but aren't you old enough to see Dalglish at Anfield? Reckon Suarez is more talented a player than him? I don't mind the number of signings as they aren't all going to be shoved into the first team at the expense of current players. At the moment, assuming we get Lovren, Markovic, Origi & Moreno? Only Moreno and Lovren will go into the first team straight away and Lallana might as well. That is then only 3 changes from last years first team. Can, Markovic, Lambert will be squad players to start with (Markovic probably due to his age).
Yeah I saw Kenny firsthand loads of times but Suarez is a different kettle of fish just in terms of out and out skills and speed. It's partly down to the way the game is played nowadays (you think Suarez takes a kicking well it's nothing relative to what Kenny et al used to get....without rolling around or complaining). Give me a choice of the two though and I'd still take Kenny every time. Suarez is the most talented individually (and one of the hardest working) but as a team player there's no comparrison. Kenny knew when to play it simple and when to turn it on, everything he did was for the team. Kenny always seemed to pick the right pass and had a telepathic understanding of not just how the game was panning out but also how to use his teammates to help control games...week in week out, year after year #truegenius
Very true. If we bought a load of cheaper players to bolster the squad we'd be accused of just padding it out. If we buy players with a slightly higher rep then we have to pay for them and then some will say we're overpaying. We all have different opinions, so whatever the club does, some of us will be displeased. It's a pity Uruguay didn't feed Gnasher properly, it would have been so much better to have him for another season at least and build on last years success rather than have to try and re-create it. I think Spurs bought some decent players, somehow it just didn't gel for them, and that's the problem. It's a fine line between success and failure- no matter how good your team looks on paper or on an online game, you can't be sure how they'll work out in reality, or even why it goes wrong when it does. As you say, there's nothing we fans can do except sit back and enjoy the ride and hope it's as good as it was last time.
That's an interesting question. I think Kenny as the better all round footballer and was not racist or bitey. He was brilliant over a far longer period. Suarez hs had 1 amazing season. Kenny for me.
What you laughing at Trust me...being old enough to have witnessed Kenny play is no bad thing getting arthritis from typing this probably is mind you.............
Proof in the pudding is what happens at the end of this season. Let's be honest when we didn't get anyone in Jan we all thought top 4 as out of the question. Instead it looked inspiring as we got top 4 and saved money which we can invest this year. we didn't go and spend money on overpriced players who could have failed and disrupted the season. We all have opinions on what's best but we all want the same thing. A squad that is competitive. If we finish in the CL again this year, and make a decent effort of the CL then what ever the club do this summer will be justified
Origi gives us nothing? Bit harsh there, with Suarez going our striking options are poor, we have Sturridge, Borini and Aspas. Origi is 20 years old with clear qualities.
Laughing at the fact you got called an old fart in the nicest way possible And that's true! You saw at least a part of the most successful period in Liverpool's history. Got to be worth something.
