Trouble is Hull is sterotyped as a dive with some right morons inside it and while you're slowly creeping out of that stereotype, there is always going to be one or two that hold you back.
The trouble is, your post is tinged with bitter green of envy- we are the COC17. FACT. Your former hosiery town was well beaten in the head-to-head.
I'm happy (delighted in fact) to call her a bell when she acts like one but I thought her comments were balanced and genuine.
It's the fact he said "slowly creeping out", as if we've just discovered running water and electricity.
Anyway, slightly off-topic but still somewhat relevant, can someone explain the main differences between the Hull dialect and the dialect used in the rest of East Yorkshire?
Holderness and East Hull long flat vowels. Many Darksiders came into the city from the sticks when the docks opened up on the East side, bringing their accent. West Hull villages is a fur coats and no knickers Hull accent.
Why wouldn't C5 put together a show like this, and edit it exactly as they know it will sell? People *will* watch it. Then talk about it. You lot, and now me, are talking about it before it even goes out. This type of show is just like TOWIE, Big Brother etc. You can whinge about it all you like but without a market for it, it would just disappear. While people are interested in them, they won't, and that means either loving it or hating it. Either way you're watching it, or talking about it and encouraging others to watch, which is all the advertisers care about. Being set in Hull is irrelevant too. These get set all over the country and I bet you can't remember all the places they have been. If you can, you're the reason this show is still going. It's funny some of you judging that lass too.
The fact she clearly didn't see an issue with posing for a photo with a *** in her hand, or declaring that she has no money but will be buying a bottle of vodka, suggest she might not be very intelligent. I can't wait to hear her detailed deconstruction of the UK's immigration issues. It's going to be like watching Panorama I should think. All that said... judge not and all that.
She may not be very intelligent- just like some on this board. She appears slightly 'damaged' judging by her declared past personal history and the way she now comes across as 'out there' as a result of it all. Who WOULD give her a job if she appears depressed, angry, demotivated and confused? Not many. There aren't many immigration issues in East Hull (yet)- so she won't able to profit from the rise in wages and fall in house prices that this cultural enrichment bestows on the lucky host community.
