Southampton fans have been whining on our board for weeks but I post a quote from Lovren on their board and the lot of them go into #meltdown
Not quite true though, is it? You came on to the Saints board completely uninterested in having any type of sensible discussion, and with the clear intention of trying to wind people up. That says rather more about you than the Saints board. If you want to have a sensible discussion about the situation at Saints, that's fine. The quote you posted we'd been discussing for some time - hardly a cause of a 'meltdown'. You were basically just told to sod off.
Just a bit daft really. Obviously Saints fans are a wee bit sensitive to Liverpool right now, but most will engage sensibly if a discussion is happening. Wind ups though......well, just a bit sad to feel the need.
Nah. That would be hypocritical I just hope Rickie does a good job for you, he of all of them deserves it.
I'm happy with the two players, just not the price we paid. Happy with what we paid for Lambert but Lallana was about £10m too much for what we'll get. I understand you guys wanting that much though with him being a key player and captain. Lovren looks to be a third one too, again he's too expensive.
Agreed we've got a premium with Lallana and Lovren (and Shaw). It's the behaviour of Lallana and Lovren that's grating fans, not their desire to play CL or move to a bigger club (though Lovren would do well to remember who rescued him from a downward spiral). He's a quality, commanding CB though. Will do a good job for you if and when he's focused. He's young too, and with the right training could develop to be right up there with the very best.
I'd love to have a sensible conversation but I honestly can't find a post that isn't just "twat" or "****" or just people reporting on twitter/instagram posts If you claim to be sensible then please give me an honest answer about how the **** any of you can dare to complain about players dropping Southampton for a much bigger club after everything Adkins did for you and then you sacked him in one of the most disrespectful, disloyal and cold hearted ways possible, all in the name of "long-term ambitions" "long-term ambition" btw that blew up spectacularly mid-season
Tbh, I take your point, with Lovren especially. I don't like the fact that he's basically refusing to play for you. That's very unprofessional imo. If we buy him then I'll get behind him like I do all of our players, but it's a rather inauspicious start for me.
Nobody is denying the players their 'dream' and the opportunity to move up - all people are asking is that the club and fans (who ultimately pay their wages) are treated with a modicum of respect. Hence why nobody is annoyed with Lambert or Shaw, both of whom have acted professionally, unlike Lallana and Lovren. Your comparison to the Adkins situation is a strange one, as he wasn't sacked by the fans, he was replaced by a ruthless man who isn't at the club any longer.
I agree with Saint here. Lovren's actions make me not want us to sign him, never mind the fee. Any player that is willing to go the those extents for a move isn't worth it. There is no reason he won't do that to us in a year either, although I'd happily take him if it means near enough trebling our money
Also, do you know what the club's long term ambitions are now? Do you think Southampton are now completely without ambition? We've just replaced our outgoing manager with a significantly more recognised and successful one, and the board have said all the money raised from player sales (likely upward of £70m) will be reinvested into the team. Hardly unambitous.
Seem to recall all of us being pretty annoyed when that happened. And get this into your head. It's not the fact that they're going, it's the way they're going about it.
But, like us with Suarez, you are losing key influential players that aren't guaranteed to be replaced no matter how much money you have. Of course, and no disrespect intended, its easier for you guys to find replacements for your outgoing players than it is for us with ours.
If the report is true that Lovren was told he could leave for a bigger club and £20m, and then Liverpool make a £20m bid and it is dismissed without Lovren even being informed, don't you think he has the right to be upset about a board that has lied to his face and then lied by omission? WTF did Lallana do wrong? He said nothing in public until the deal was done. He handed in a transfer request because he was told to do so. I hope you're not one of those morons who thinks saying "I would be happy to end my career here" means " I guarantee I will end my career here". The point about Adkins is many of your fans whine about professionalism, respect and contracts, none of which you gave a **** about when he was sacked. Within hours of it being announced you were all ready to say "nothing we can do now let's move on". Well there's nothing you can do about transfers either so move on.
Your lack of knowledge of seemingly any of the facts is spectacular! Do some research then come back to me. On pretty much every single one of those points. I'm not going to bore your board with Saints talk any longer as it's a Liverpool board. But really, even if you're coming over on a wind up, try getting facts in order before returning to the Saints one.
No, because it's nonsense. It makes no sense. Told saints he would never play for them again, just after the last game of the season. Unnecessary. Didn't put in a transfer request, so he wouldn't forfeit certain clauses in his contract. Claimed he spent most of last season dreaming of playing for you. Unprofessional sent us a goodbye note, that was a half page picture of himself celebrating a goal, and a birthday card greeting to go with it. Pretty poor. You're still labouring under the misapprehension that the fans sacked him, and were instantly delighted about it.
Most people (including me, to an extent) had a breakdown when Adkins got sacked. It was only a couple of months into Pochettino's reign that we realised Cortese made the right choice. Adkins should have been sacked in November rather than January as it would have made more sense.
