You'd like to think there were players left at Saints (and in football) who would take a player like Lovren to one side and point out he's acting like a **** and if he continues, he'll get a slap or worse.

But they are all the same.

As we've seen, even the ones tied to clubs from being a child don't have any loyalty for that club. They live in a bubble where for years they are told how amazing they are, how they are never wrong and everything is done for them.

Game is morally dead, footballers killed football.

I didn't mean in terms of handling it, but I have seen quite a few people saying "Lallana and Lovren should look at how Lambert and Shaw handled their transfers and learn", when they really shouldn't as the situations are so different.

We were/are looking to replace Lambert very soon anyway due to his age, Osvaldo was meant to be that player but we all know what happened there. We got a good fee for a 32 year old, which just so happened to be from the club of his dreams. It would have been unbelievably ****y on our part to not let him go when we were looking to replace him soon anyway.

With Shaw we got an unheard of fee for a teenager, let alone a teenage fullback. The deal was good for Saints and Shaw so they accepted and he went with minimal fuss.

IMO Lallana and Lovren were both told that they wouldn't be going by the board so if they really wanted the move to a CL club for the money or whatever other reasons you want to believe then the ONLY way to make it happen was to go public and try and force it. If we had turned down the bids for Shaw and Lambert aswell it really wouldn't have surprised me if they did a similar thing. Unfortunately this is modern day football and it happens all the time.

 

One of the Academy U21 squad boys has just tweeted: "Certain footballers need to Learn respect for what club they play for"

 

Yeah, they either really did fall for Cortese's bullshit hook line & sinker.... or more probable... they simply knew it would be a convienient stick to hit Saints with to get a transfer down the line.

I mean, Cortese also apparently fed them the line about having another billionaire backer and rebuilding St Mary's. Chinny-rec-on.

 

Whoever it is should get a big new contract!

 

Which one? Need to remember the name of our next Le Tiss/player we'll be lambasting for stating an allegiance to the club before leaving.

Ah, I see, I didn't get that from your post sorry.

I think that, as you say, those two players were going to leave anyway (Lambert came as a shock to us as no one knew of it, but you can understand the boards decision in letting him go for sure). The other two I really don't think we have wanted to get rid of, as far as I'm aware. In fact, Reed was saying things about hoping Lallana would stay only a few days before he actually left. Of course, Lovren is still a Saints player but looks like he won't be for much longer if he gets his way.

Seeing as we are not privy to what goes on in these discussions, I think it's fair to assume that the reason the latest two have gone/are going in such a manner is because we are reluctant to let them go, thus the only way for them to go, is to make their positions untenable. The other two left amicably because it was in the interest of both parties.

But again, I think most people here realise this don't they?!

 

Hernandez saw joining the saints as too much of a step down.

Yep, that's right, one whole league position, 8th compared to 7th for a team who didn't beat us last season.

If true, we have got enough players who don't want to be here,we don't need another.
