That's a fair point mate, must be a pain in the arse though, not being able to get around as and when you want.

    But fair play.

Tree hugger, what about all the fuel it takes to transport all the part for these little dinky toys?

People shouldn't drink and drive full stop. The world is full of people who can manage a pint or two then drive fine until they something happens to them.

I'd be delighted to see the law come in.

So the current law is to lenient, and you want zero tolerance?

No. You shouldn't be stepping into a car if you have had any sort of alcoholic drink so I would back these laws. Most people aren't aware of how much they can drink and go by their own tolerance. You always get one who thinks he can drink 4-5 pints and still be sober, because he is "hard" but as soon as anyone has a pint or a glass of wine then they should be aware they risk jail if they step into a car. Plus I live in Scotland so hope this does go through.

Who does it harm, people not drinking at all before driving? No one. I'd say not a drop personally. Like Bill I lost a pal of mine (We were both 17) to a bloke driving barely over the limit.

Its an obsession, its similar to people who smoke, they look as if they are about to die on the spot unless they get their cigarette break. Same with people who "enjoy a drink" they can't help but have a cheeky one for the road.

So abolishing a single drink with your lunch or dinner is gonna save loads of lives?

I'm guessing that there are more deaths by boy racers, than a person who has had a single drink.

I remember watching this programme a few years ago & they had this mixture of people.
Men, women of different ages & sizes.
Anyway, they put them in a driving simulator & they were all fine.
They then gave them all a couple of drinks of their choice & they all said they were fine.
They put them back in the simulator & in every single instance their reactions slowed down.
Each & every one of them were shocked.

It affects everyone. Maybe not even to a noticeable amount to the driver but they've been affected. No one is immune to the affects of alcohol.

Now we are back to square one.

This is about aboloshing even a single drink, not getting mullered.

    Exactly.

I was reading an article which states how drink driving deaths are falling in Germany but rising in Britain. In Germany they are tougher on people who drink and as such it improves safety as people are aware if they touch a single drop then they risk ruining their life.

    from the drinkaware site :

How much can I drink and stay under the limit?

There is no fool-proof way of drinking and staying under the limit. The amount of alcohol you would need to drink to be considered over the driving limit varies from person to person. It depends on: (4)
    your weight
your gender (men tend to process alcohol faster than women)
    your metabolism
the type and amount you're drinking
    your current stress levels
    whether you've eaten recently
age (younger people tend to process alcohol more slowly
Even small amounts of alcohol can affect your ability to drive so the only safe advice is to avoid any alcohol if you are driving.
