Is this taking it to far, or are you all for it, if it was law in England? Another nail in the pubs coffin? http://news.sky.com/story/1295867/scotland-moves-to-slash-drink-drive-limit
The law is so vague already though Comm as it is measured by the levels of alcohol in the bloodstream which has so many variables..To be honest, I don't think there is a need to reduce these levels any further, but as I have stated, i would rather just drink nowt if I have the car so I know exactly where I stand..
I don't see an issue with it. I'm like RAW nowadays, not a drop if I'm driving, facts are we all know that you can't judge how much it effects you. I'm a good drinker, but we all have them moments, not enought to eat, not enough sleep, slight virus, whatever when you cannot judge how much it's going to affect you. Nowt wrong with having a coke in a pub if you're just being sociable, in all likelihood if that's the case you'll be gone before people are pissed anyway. Put simply, there's no need to drink and drive, so why should it affect pubs?
Drinking on an empty stomach or just after a big meal, (one thing i can't do is drink after stuffing myself) could have a big effect?
Are you suggesting that it will have no effect on pub trade? Office workers having 1 glass of wine, or 1 pint on their lunch, now forced to drink fizzy ****e. Not often this happens, but we'll disagree on this one mate.
I'm not saying it won't affect them mate, but I wouldn't think it would be a massive impact. Remember nowadays that most companies would class a lunchtime drink as gross misconduct, likewise many who still have a tipple wouln't think twice about having one and driving anyway. |I'd say unless it was massively enforced, which can't happen cos the Police are so under resourced and frankly too lazy, then it won't have much of a bite.
Joke mate. I always used to let my staff have a bev on their lunch as long as they didn't take the piss, Fridays we had bevs in the office on the afternoon, never did much harm, to be fair in sales, sometimes it helps. Britain will never be 'Great' again mate.
This is a big bug bear with me. Personally I think it should be like it is in Sweden - no alcohol whatsoever. Pissed driving or pissed with a gun, just as dangerous as one another imo.
I can see merits to both sides of the argument regarding drink driving , I like to drink alcohol when in a pub - and I despise paying near on the same price for a glass of pop when I could have a beer, (albeit when working I tend to get free drinks at most venues) - I reckon 1 pint shouldn't really affect anyone who drinks on a regular basis -but because of the law is vague as to what how much that one drink translates into- (80mg of alcohol in the bloodstream per 100ml would make you a drunk driver - the Scottish Government wants to reduce that to 50mg) -maybe making it 0% would clarify and make it correct for everyone- but saying that I would say it'd be the another nail in the coffin for the rural and countryside pubs.
Aye well when I was a kid I lost a mate when he was hit by a Range Rover. The landlord confirmed the driver had only two beers.
that then is a good argument-but say if I had my free pint at a venue say at 8pm played my gig (and then sweated it out by midnight lol) the alcohol in my bloodstream would have been long gone ... I hope
If I had my way I would ban these huge fuel guzzling 4x4's from general use as well..Not only are they massively contributing to climate change, but they are also 6 times more likely to be fatal at 30mph or less than an average saloon car is when knocking someone over.
No he wasn't because the limits were far higher then. Iwont drive anymore because I have epilepsy. Technically you could have your licence back after being fit free for a year unless it's HGV or PSV & then it's ten. Even though I'm on drugs to control it I still have the odd one. Imagine that happening behind the wheel? I just wont take the chance mate.
