Should gimmethickerhoops be banned

For what it's worth Charlie this was probably more down to me trying to crystallise our views on what to do about GTH. He makes almost no worthwhile contribution here and really annoys some people. Rather than have everybody keeping on about whether he should stay or go it seemed not a bad idea for us to vote on it to see if there is a consensus. For what it is worth I only ever came close to leaving permanently once and that had nothing to do with you - I have enjoyed our even "heated" debates as when done honestly they are what these forums can be about - a good airing of different opinions. We never resorted to insults here like they do on some of the other boards and to be fair GTH does not tend to be abusive other than an occasional retort to someone who does not appreciate his "humour." My absence last year was more to do with personal problems than anything else

 

I don't post very often , I use the forum for info as im the other side of the pond. we enjoy the light hearted banter ,But we don't come together to be insulted for that reason I have voted for a ban . I think its better that gth except a yellow card for bad behave from our mods . And then a ban if there is no change

 

I don't like banning people. I don't get annoyed about Hoops' comments - most of them are irrelevant to me.

 

I have lost the list of who has voted each way - have the settings changed - how do I get back to see who has voted each way?

 

Let's get this into perspective. It's not as if we are banning gth from the internet or even from Not606 in its entirety. He would still have plenty of opportunity to post his (mostly idiotic) comments and wind-ups on other boards. There is no principle of freedom of speech involved if we ban him from our board. We would just remove him as an elephant removes a parasite like a tick. He adds nothing, intrudes and annoys some on this board. Quite why we are wasting so much time over him is beyond me.

Ban him and move on......

 

Agreed... let him seek his attention elsewhere....

 

Because although that is how you feel some others feel differently - so it is worth knowing what the majority want - and acting accordingly. Some may find his comments add a little variety to an otherwise pretty samey board - you are able to put him on your "ignore" list if you want whatever the decision.

 

If he is the worst WUM we have we are very lucky, comments are never personal attacks or unnecessarily insulting clearly made with tongue firmly in cheek. It doesn't take much to ignore a post you don't like; talk of banning people from the board just makes our community seem a bit petty.

There must be some codes of behaviour for these forums???? If so can this behaviour be stopped?

...and now we get the "innocent" and "mr nice guy" postings on our threads.... if this fella is a decent human being... I suggest an apology at clearly being found a waste of time by a number of people..... and an end to the behaviour.....

I was going to vote no if the mods had put a thread as had been requested. For me, this changes things. I vote yes.

That is not a criticism of our mods by the way as I would not have expected to see it for a while in any case.

 

I am one of those who believed that our site didn't need mods because it was well behaved despite the heated arguments that we have sometimes got into. To be a mod requires taking sides, unless there are set of written rules that they can apply. If such a list exists then it should be available to all. I am sure that what one mod might find offensive another wouldn't.

GTH, we do know how to start a poll on this site, we have done them before, so it is not very clever to suggest now that you were just helping. For me it is a yellow card, behave yourself, take your waste of time comments elsewhere, but do it again and I might vote to have you off.

 

Anyone who thinks this guy is bad clearly doesn't remember Garry from the old 606 days, he was a proper WUM. I think gimmethickerhoops needs to up his game.

I'd forgotten about that one. The old 606 did seem to attract the best WUMs, pretty sure there were a couple of Luton fans on there too

Garry was also on BigWatfordLove before the Rivals network was CHOPED (in-joke from the time). Now there were some WUMs par excellence on there. After Rivals went most of us decamped to The Watford Darkside - which still has a hardcore element.

 

I wonder if there is any point banning the tedious troll as I am sure he would just return under another witty posting name. I have just added him to my ignore list and it works very well. Unless someone directly to his tediously unfunny comments, I have no clue what crap he is coming out with - so works brilliantly for me.
