I don't think we can build a team around Faye though. If he can't play in a back 4 any more then he isn't what we need.
Isn't that just what you are doing here though? I think that Faye WAS a better player, in the past, but not so sure that applied last season. Also I'm not so certain that any other manager would have played Faye before Bruce. In my opinion Bruce junior played better than a lot of us thought that he would in the EPL.
Ye he had a shocker and was subbed. He should be grateful for a years Premier money cos he didnt earn it. Mcshane would have played in front of AB but got injured and so did Chezzy. Shame he's done this. I'd be very happy if Burnley snapped him up.
We stayed up, we got to the final of the fa cup and we made the Europa League. I dont care if Faye got dropped for alex. I dont care if clark kent got dropped for Alex. This last season far exceeded my expectations and that is the only thing that I care about.
He was lucky he had a clause in his contract that after a certain number of games automated a extra year. The second half of the Championship promotion season he hardly play.
I think you're probably right. Not just because it was him that went off but it just upset the balance of the defence enough to leave a chink in the armour that Arsenal managed to exploit. If we get Dawson or someone of similar quality then AB will probably only get starts in domestic cups, Europe and if someone is injured but he'll do a solid job whenever called upon, you can't really ask for more than that of a back up defender.
Absolutely mate, if he hadn't have had to have gone off, then his dad would have been able to make his planned substitutions. We needed fresh legs in the latter stages. Then again, Alex usually goes off injured and rarely plays a full 90. Faye has let himself down with these comments.
Bruce would set out his own tactics with us, never took into consideration the opponent and never tweaked unless forced. Many times he played the wrong player. I assume there were plenty of games where Faye would have been best choice given the opposition and plenty of games where Bruce would have been best choice given the opposition, this situation happened a lot in many positions but Bruce never thought to tweak. He gets his way in his head and sticks to it. I thought he may have developed his management in that particular area. If I'm wrong and he has developed that side of the game maybe it is out and out favouritism?
Alex played real well and Faye wasnt exactly a spring chicken himself. There are some that have always thought that Alex being picked even back in the Championship was simple favoritism but the man has almost always put in a good performance. This seems more like a player upset that he wasnt picked more than a real issue. It was never like Bruce was being picked ahead of Davies for instance where the gap in quality would have been a significant one. It is really a non issue in my opinion until he is picked above an obviously superior player. Out of all the things that people complain about when it comes to Bruce this one seems to be the most insignificant one.
well said that man - Alex Bruce should be nowhere near the squad - only 2 wins all season with him starting - the likes of Curtis Davies will leave if they keep having to play alongside a championship journeyman
Oh Faye is dummy spitting, no doubt about that. He's lost all dignity and when you consider his age and his clear attitude problem you better off without anyway.
Davies doesn't have to keep playing alongside championship journeyman. Does he ? Have i missed something ?
"Only two wins all season with him starting". I don't check stats, but i'm fairly sure, if that's correct, then Alex did rather well. Hint....he barely started a game
