Is there not a chance that Joel Campbell could come permanently as part of a deal for Morgan? Despite his good performances last season and in this WC, Arsene seems to take little notice and continuously looks elsewhere?

Would much rather him than Ings, that's for sure, more proven at the highest level (CL, and now WC), and maybe would command a lesser or equal fee.

I'd hardly say proven. Scored once in the CL, and has only played really well in one world cup game. His scoring record in the Greek league (8 from 31) is also far from impressive.

I wasn't talking so much about the goals, as he plays prominently as a winger, but sometimes his turn of pace and work rate can really turn the screw.

It makes perfect sense to me for Wenger to want to loan Campbell out to a PL club. Six or twelve months of PL football would not only give him experience of playing in the PL, but it would also allow Wenger to see how to gets on.

If he does well, Wenger then brings him into the Arsenal fold (and presumably as a better player than he is now). If he does poorly, Wenger flogs him abroad.

And a disappointingly obvious one, at that.

Has he even shone though? Ever?

As Dan pointed out, he's not been spectacular in Greece, although I can't comment on his performances having ever seen them.

I have, however, seen him in the World Cup. To me, it seems that the reason he's generated so much hype is:
    A) He's the focal point of the attack of a team who've overachieved massively
    B) He's 1 of only 2 Premiership players in the team

I would argue though, that in actuality, his performances have been mediocre at best. Bryan Ruiz has outshone him, but no way would I sign him. I haven't noticed him have much of an impact this World Cup, and I'm surprised by the amount of hype he's generated.

I think Campbell has actually been very important for Olympiacos. 8 goals looks more impressive when you're playing on the wing. He's been playing at the top of a 5-4-1 for Costa Rica though, so there are two very different roles he plays. No idea if he could play either position in the PL because we've seen basically nothing in the way of a defensive side to his game. He does look intelligent and industrious though.

Did he reject us, or was he just asleep when we made the offer?

Ok, i believe i have an exclusive to share. Lovren gave an interview to croatian sports papers Sportske novosti.

    http://www.jutarnji.hr/lovren-za-sn...ampton-nije-bio-korektan-prema-meni-/1204064/

You can put this trough google translate, but i will give it a try, for better understanding (or at least I hope so. :D) :

'I saw (after Cortese left) that something was wrong in the club, nobody knew who will take over. Already then I started to suspect the whole story. I asked the manager (Poch) what's going on, and he couldn't tell me whether he will be staying on the project which should, by the promises I received, last for 5-6 years – investment in the club, fight for Champions league, bringing in new players and keeping the old ones. That was, after all, why I agreed to sign for Southampton. And then Cortese left, Pochettino left, and I saw the whole system was falling apart.

Liverpool sent an offer for me, and the club haven't told me about it. Or about other offers from Liverpool. That was not fair. I found about it from other people, I was very disappointed by it and it was clear to me that Southampton is not a place for me. Liverpool sent a 20M offer, and Saints bought me for 9 milion, they would've doubled their earnings. Look, I would've liked to stay in Southampton if the club has any ambitions, if they've kept their main players. Then not even an offer from Liverpool would dissuaded me from staying.

A this moment I don't know what to do I don't like it. And it's really unbelievable that the club accepted an offer of 20M a couple of days ago. It was in the morning, and in the afternoon they told me i'm not for sale! To tell you the truth, my thoughts are already at Liverpool. And I sent a letter to the club saying the same thing i'm saying to you right now.

They haven't responded, they just thanked me for the letter. It seems they want to keep me in the dark, which is not ok from them. To tell you the truth, I don't even know who's in charge of the club right now. Now they're asking 25 milion, which I don't think they'll get. Liverpool is one of the greatest clubs in the world, only Real Madrid has the same worldwide fanbase. When I played at Anfield, “You’ll never walk alone”gave me goosebumps. I want to listen to it all the time.'
