Needs a strong word. I'd rather know his passing stats for Saints. Do those defensive actions include negative ones?
good read, basically you are saying don't expect superstars like robben etc signings as we wont pay the transfer fee or more likely pay the wages. worries me we may end up with more albertos and Lloris though which we have seen nothing from yet, and certainly saw **** all from aspas, yes they are for the future (not aspas obviously) ie this origi bloke who i believe will go back on loan, but what about the now? migs and Sakho i expect more from next season, whether we will or not time will tell, hope so. just hope the club sped the money wisely and invest in players like shakiri etc, who hopefully will have a point to prove to clubs, bit like sturridge done.
It looks like Suarez will be off for somewhere approaching 75m (unsure whether in pound or euro, conflicting reports on that). It's also clear that Rodgers sees LB, CB and a wide forward as his three priorities - and probably another striker/forward option now that Suarez is leaving. He seems to have earmarked Lovren, Moreno and Sanchez as his ideal three. Busy times. In terms of replacing Suarez, we'll not find one single player this season to do that, but we can hope someone we buy/have can develop into a player of his level in the next season or three. That's Sterling, Ibe and Suso from us who have massive potential to improve to become the key player for us. Sturridge could perhaps step up another level if he keeps on working hard. From the continent as another potential world class forward to be the talisman of the team, you'd be looking at the likes of (imo) Rodriguez, Sanchez, Griezmann, Markovic, Shaqiri, Yarmolenko, Lavezzi and Konoplyanka. All of those have interested teams around Europe and could well move. Obviously some more likely than others from that list to come to us though...I'd go for Shaqiri and Griezmann which would leave us money left over for defense. Would give us as forward options: Sturridge, Sterling, Shaqiri, Griezmann, Lambert and Borini. Gerrard, Henderson, Allen, Can, Coutinho and Lallana. + a few youth and uncertain squad players like Lucas, Assaidi and Aspas. Good enough to stay in the top 4? I'm not convinced.
I actually think it's the wise way of doing things! Of course there's been one or two failures in Aspas, Alberto, Ilori. But look at the success stories. Sturridge, Coutinho, Mignolet to an extent. Sakho to an extent. Plus, those that Brendan has got wrong, (were all human), there's not been much of a media backlack because their fees having been those hitting the 20-30 million mark. Imagine if Sanchez came to LFC and flopped? It could cost him his job if LFC didn't hit the top 3 or 4.
I still don't get the whole 'Alberto, Ilori flop' thing. Ilori was always intended to go out on loan, he's one for the future so lets maybe give him a chance first...Alberto again was bought for the future and has barely had any game time. How is that a failure? I think Sakho will push on this season now he's settled into the team and league, Mignolet is now the established number 1 at the team and knows the defense. Time for him to step up and command it. I think he will.
Lloris is Spurs goal keeper. You mean Ilori who went on loan to Granada and looked like a potentially world class player before getting an injury. He had Messi in his pocket when Granada played Barca.
yeah i realized after i posted that you picked up on a typo, you know who i meant surprised no one said anything about the shakiri one yet
Alberto and Aspas were intended to have a much greater impact than what they had last season. You must surely agree. Iloris, yes. Which is why I'm confused at all of the CB links lately. What's wrong with the 4 defenders in Toure, Skrtel, Agger and Sakho until somebody like Iloris is ready?
