"There are some at the top of the club who are, shall I say, "economical with the truth" Be careful who you believe."

Well, no ****. I think everyone worked this out when the comments of "We won't sell anybody who we don't want to" - or even Kruger full on stating we won't sell key players - were shown up as bollocks. That's not to say it's the end of the world, but come on.

it's the same ****, different day though isn't it. we had a another set of people saying much the same sort of stuff when cortese was here with different bits of itk information that nobody wanted to hear, which were all plausible and either came true or fit the circumstances. just a different target for the negativity.

the club is as divided as it ever was.

Club isn't divided really. It's just some players try to use the whole "the dream is dead" instead of saying the truth " I moved to a bigger club as i could get more money and play in the Champs league". They see it as trying to keep the fans on their side for some weird reason.

Why would Lallana still be playing the dream is dead card? He's gone.

Maybe promises that it'll all come out in his autobiography, like all the things that were supposed to eventually come out about rupert.

He still has family down here right? he still has to play us as well. I think he thinks it will make some of the fans carm down a bit so he won't get abuse. It makes it sound like the club is fault as they "killed the dream", instead of simply he wanted to move to a bigger club and acted a bit of a twat.

Don't know if any of them are round here. Surely they are mostly around bournemouth where everyone is chuffed with £4m for nothing.

It's almost like he thinks we only see and hear what he wants us to, but unfortunately for him, his interview with LFC was available to us as well. Saying he was interested in the title run and that Saints can't fulfill his ambition jars sharply with biting someone's hand off to retire here, and if you thump the badge on your chest people will think you are devoted to the club. His friends or whoever can put out all their PR, but for me the above is enough to justify calling him t**tbeard.

Best policy is to say as little as possible. Luke's handling of the same situation shows him up even more.

Edit: Also, maybe because Rickie is still revered, he feels he deserves that too and doesn't understand the difference between Rickie and himself. He's got his dream move, he should accept he messed up and be happy with his new club.

Yeah, but that's a different thing. The club saying/implying they wouldn't sell key players was rendered a lie by their actions, but it's at least conceivable to me that they meant it when they said it.

I find it difficult to believe that Lallana wanted to play for Saints but was sold anyway while saying nothing of his desire to stay or to address the rumors that really pointed him in a bad light. I think the only reasonable conclusion is that Lallana wanted out badly, and was indeed willing to go on strike to get his way.

Now as far as whether Lallana was lied to/mistreated/had the rug jerked out from under him that might justify his behaving this way, or at least why he would want out so badly as to make a mistake and accidentally burn bridges-- I can agree there that there are two sides to every story.

I think the Luke situation was slightly different in that fee was going to be massive and everyone would be happy. IMO Saints were always going to cash in on Luke so he just needed to sit back and let it happen.

Twatbeard on the other hand wasn't for sale, he was the key to our side. If he didn't try to make noises about moving we would have kept him and just knocked Liverpool back. I think that was the case, we rejected their final offer before the WC, so he panicked and caused ****.

The report from the Star wouldn't surprise me as I still think that our want away stars have coordinated their actions as the tactics are so similar it's no coincidence.
I am afraid we will not see Morgan in a Saints shirt again...he will refuse to turn up to training and carry out a media campaign on how his ambition can only be matched at Spurs/Arsenal (or anyone willing to double his wages). Seen it before with T**tbeard, Judas Lovren and now sadly Morgan.
Get rid and fleace one of the big boys for £20m+

I disagree about the dream being dead, we just have a more realistic time scale. The idea of a well run club playing good football, partially financed by an active academy, is alive and kicking. The Southampton Way was quoted in a very recent interview. We may have lost a great chance to do it sooner or we may not...Nicola was no Abramovich ready to finance his own dream. Katharina may have given him the chance to get out before his ambition was shown to be built on sand...after all, he could have stayed, but chose not to.

The dream of doubling their wages this season is dead.

No doubt NC promised investment would be there for a CL push and wages to match.

For me the dream is dead, I and many others dared to dream that for one fleeting moment that little old Saints who dragged themselves up for near oblivion would nick fourth spot in the EPL and get into CL.
With NC leaving the dream died and reality has now set in...it was good whilst it lasted but in reality was never to be.
Now we have to move on with a very realistic "Project" which will see us self financing and a perennial mid table team capable of the odd good cup run, the occasional scalp of one of the big boys at SMS and to loose any good player that we find from the academy or elsewhere. Lets get on with it!

None of us started supporting Saints because we were pot hunters....we signed up because they had won our hearts and we felt pride in supporting our local team. We had difficult times, interspersed with rare bits of joy. Nicola promised us success and delivered it, but the next step up is the hardest. We are in a good position, but have to reclaim the traditional hardiness and sense of humour of football fans...for a short time, we almost became fans in the United mould...believing we were just entitled to everything and getting irrationally cross if we weren't treated like title contenders. We are in a good position and have exciting times ahead of us.

speak for yourself, I joined for the JPT glory.

It only took about 20 years.

Now through poor planning we've been ineligible again for a minimum of five years.

I understand your point but don't necessarily agree with it, yet!

We still have a huge financial advantage over the pack and are capable of signing some quality players. A big 'if' but if we can keep Schneiderlin we still have one of the best midfields in the country, add a bit of pace and trickery and that area is looking good. I believe we can replace Lovren with a player as good (and at half the price). And we have a manager who could prove to be our best signing yet.

I am still dreaming the dream at least for one more season.

Maybe we haven't sold anyone we didn't want to! Maybe there was some thinking behind this that said we can get players who are as good, if not better and for less money.

    Or, maybe not!
