Looks like this is happening imminently, and the rumoured fee is only £8m. If that's correct it's absurd, especially given that we paid somewhere between £5-6m and he has at least three years left on his contract. If true, it smacks of there being some kind of clause in there, which makes you wonder about our other recent signings...

The £8m is all over twitter. Seems very low even for Arsenal...

Seems Arsenal think he's over priced at £12m. FFS he's an International FB, on a long term contract and is way above prices quoted for Championship players. Tell them £12m minimum. " Do unto others as they do unto you "

We don't need the money he has a long contract so don't need to sell, tell his agent its 12 mill and he can go with our blessing or sod off.

Unless there is a clause £8 million would be criminally low. Giving players away for less than they are worth is just as bad as paying too much. Don't they get it?

If there is a clause...stop putting in stupid ****ing clauses!!!

GFNFrance are also reporting that we have accepted an offer somewhere in the region of £8million. Daft.

In other stupidly low transfer fee news - Valbuena is off to Valencia for a mere €5m to €7m.

I am gutted at that price tag. The Arsenal fans seem to think its about right, but they wont be taking into acount the contract we have him on.

    From their board....

I am so bloody angry about this!!! We are shooting ourselves in the foot.

The only way he's going for £8m is if he has a release clause that low..... or Joe Kinnear has taken charge of all transfer business again. No way Ashley would let a French full international who is proper quality go for that little. Just no way. His policy is if you want our best players then make us an offer we can't refuse. I actually find us accepting £12m difficult to believe.

That is exactly how I felt, but the rumours seem so strong it looks plausible now. Some seriously negligent dealings going on though to end up in this situation, however it has happened

I thought letting Cabaye go for £19m was fairly criminal tbh. I hear it is one the major factors in JFK losing his job. Can't believe we are going to do it again with Debuchy. We don't need to sell so if you want them ****ing break the bank or **** off.

Sounds like we have agreed to sell for £8million upfront, rising to more depending on appearances etc. Hopefully it will total a more acceptable amount.

Re: Debuchy. The lump fee for a transfer from Newcastle to Arsenal is agreed, but the structured deal is not yet. There's a difference. #AFC

Mathieu Debuchy is alleged to have told reporters at TF1 that he is moving to Arsenal tonight. Either way, a deal is very close. #AFC #NUFC

Its all irrelevant as the club won't see a penny of whatever fee we get for him.Its fatty's cash and that's that.

Most journos now quoting a figure of £7.8m.
This just doesn't make sense at all.
We'll make what... less than £2m profit on a WC player with a long contract who is worth more than £10m???

I really can't see us replacing Debuchy. Santon will fill in there as we have other 'options' at left back. Richards would never be risked as he will be too expensive and really hasn't played many games these past two seasons (I think its 16 in all).
