When there is election or big footy game they ban the selling of booze 12 or 24 hours. The country have a history of violence when 2 groups disagree. Last game had a dry law but 2 people still died and 30 put in hospital. Really bad for pubs as people should be watching the game in the pub and getting pissed, yet here most will go and watch the game at home
Bendit covered it better than me. I didn't know they did that in Colombia and was simply translating. There'd be even bigger riots in Brasil if they did that, although they are not big drinkers, more cafe style like the French, but at night they fill the streets for big games.
