Rovers reinstated to League 2 according to BBC site, along with all teams from the conference, it appears
Manager on tough opening day fixture. On OS now. The wait for the Conference fixture list is over and we now know we face Grimsby Town on the opening day of the season when we will, no doubt, welcome former Rovers midfielder Craig Disley back to the Memorial Stadium. Commenting on that opening day fixture Rovers manager Darrell Clarke said: “It means we face a tough start to the season. Grimsby are a big club, but have struggled to regain their place in the Football League even though they have been play off semi-finalists in the last two seasons. As well as being a tough start, it’s a very attractive opening day fixture for us and I hope we can draw a big crowd to the Mem to see us get the season underway. I know their manager, Paul Hurst, very well and he has a very experienced squad at his disposal, and I think it’s a game we can all look forward to.”
Well the fixtures tell the sad tale of the great demise that has befallen Rovers. Totally unimpressed to see the full fixture list in the flesh (so to speak). The board players and such that got this Club where they now are deserve no respect what so ever. A big thank you too all concerned for really FUc8ing this Football Club over big time ! Will the board deserve the praise that they will no doubt get if we fluke a return to The Football league for 2015/16 Season. Certainly not in my opinion especially if its the same bunch of Clowns running the show as got us here were we plainly belong in the first place. Why continue to reward Shi8 decisions and pis& poor performance just because you have a bob or two. The reality has now sunk in and its not very clever no matter how we (supporters) dress up the Skrill as the 5th Division ! Its a poor excuse for professional football filled by past it has been's, wanna be's and never gonna be's. Funny sounds like the England Football team except they are slightly better paid time 100 fold and still under achieve as regular as clock work. Must actually be frightened of succeeding ! Could be singing from the same hymn sheet as the bumbling boys in the boardroom that control Rovers ! Big Club mentality when the reality is there for all to (currently) see. Seems like the filth are really going for it next season based on the expected assumption that Rovers wont claw their way back into a proper FOOTBALL LEAGUE ! If the UWE Ground development does not happen and City get promo and Rovers are still a big fish in a polluted pond of ex football league teams then the future for The Gas should be of great concern to all real Supporters. Thank you once again Nick and crew you have made a Gashead since 1968 hang his head in shame at the damge you have inflicted on my beloved team. I speak as a person that has sponsored players in the past including Ian Holloway, was helpline member along with obviously supporters club among other activities, I stupidly even celebrated my 50th at the Mem with friends when we lost to Brighton a few years back and we were bad then but better dead than red I suppose and whislt I am still breathing I must hope. Am I confident ? No.
good post black sea gas. we will lose a lot of potential fan base as they will obviously watch city over rovers. i would if i just moved to the area and i didnt know who to take on as my new club. would you rather pay what city charge and watch league 1 football or pay what we charge (which depends on where you watch from could be more expensive than what city charge) for non league football?
Well its worked out okish for me at the start of the season anyway, three midweeks fixtures in the space of a few weeks
It depends on how rovers perform. If we can win games then people will turn up especially for the local games. There's no JPT or Carling cup but thats no real loss as we rarely progress We do have the FA cup, FA vase and potential play off games. A trip to Wembley will bring people out. Rovers should be aiming for at least one good cup run and promotion
Seems one hell of a fixture list. 6 games a month till February but look on the bright side. Surely with the largest budget your squad should be more numerous and stronger in quality. And in theory more successful than most in that league. I know football's played on grass not paper but hope you get my drift.
It was the same in the Football League until 2004. Up to then, games on August Bank Holiday Monday was an annual event. It has not been discontinued in the Conference and below.
we have one of the largest but not the largest budget. plus we will be everyones fa cup final. thats my excuse in early
