    hmmmmm

favorite is such a strong term... i don't really have any favorites bar LFC and nintendo <whistle> after that.... really the terms favorite would suggest i have one or other that i'd plump for.

Film.... really i dunno. There's none i'd watch for the 20th time. I would have to say a few like great escape, the longest day or battle or Britain always get a watch but so would god father or even star wars (originals not f'n new muck)

Band, nirvana, green day? after than form my youth as you'd guess from total disinterest in music thread that i don't buy music or care whats on. I must say a touch of mozart or bach goes down nicely

fmaous people are all tossers I hate the lot of them.. is kenny dalglish a famous perosn.. if so it'd be a footballer.

This is all but impossible for me, but I'll give it a go. I have many different favourite books, films, songs, etc., depending on my mood. I'll put a few down of each. <ok>

    1. Your favourite book?

a). Factual - Science textbooks (mostly Biology) and dictionaries I use constantly, so any of them. On the Origin of Species by Charles Robert Darwin. Victorian prose, the greatest biologist who's ever lived. What's not to love? I read it every year and every year I notice something new and wonderful.
    b) Fiction - So many. Big fan of the genre. The Count of Monte Cristo (Dumas), Flowers for Algernon (Keyes), Frankenstein (Shelley), The Stars our Destination (Bester), Paradise lost (Milton) are some of my favourites. But also anything by Pratchett or Douglas Adams. My paperback Discworld novels are worn out and falling to pieces as I re-read them so much.

    2. Your favourite film? Aliens, Predator, Back to the Future (all, but the first is the best), The Shawshank Redemption, City of God, Oldboy, Anchorman, Wedding Singer, The Sword of Doom . . . an endless list <ok>

    3. Your favourite band/musician? Prodigy, The Cure, Oasis, Beatles, Mozart, NWA, The Smiths, The Stone Roses, The Rolling Stones, Fleetwood Mac, Madness, Kate Bush, Nirvana, Bjork, Suzanne Vega, Chopin . . .

    4. Your favourite famous person? No idea, if recent. Probably Terry Pratchett or Richard Dawkins. Historical is easier: most scientists and a few philosophers and writers but, mostly, Charles Darwin. <ok>

Not bad. It grows on you, like fungus. Not the best of the franchise, though.

Don't shoot me, but I actually prefer AvP to Aliens. It's not as good as Alien or Alien 3, but I could never really take to Aliens, whereas I can take AvP for what it is as simple, dumb entertainment. AVP2 was awful though.

I thought I was the only one who actually liked Alien3.
When it came out it was trashed by the critics who preferred the Cameron big-cock substitute gun-fest that was Aliens, which completely missed the point of the story, imo.

Sorry, can't really contribute to the thread in the intended way.
Don't have any clear favourites and it requires too much thinking to make a list.

Honestly, there are just too many books and musicians for me to even start.
I'm a pain in the arse when it comes to film, I'm very hard to please and I think most mainstream films are worthless rubbish designed to sell popcorn.
As for celebrities/famous people, I think the whole concept of celebrity and stardom is farcical. To me, fame has no correlation with value.

See my famous person as an indicator. I don't really mean 'celebrities' in the normally accepted sense of the word.

I liked that book too... Even if he did completely contradict history! Was quite entertaining though!
