I don't like any vegetables, well don't mind the odd carrot and a bit of sweet corn is alright but that is literally it. So if a veggie cooked me a vegetable dinner I would cook them a mixed grill in return. That would be perfectly fair then wouldn't it? And yes I eat meat with every meal, in fact it makes up the vast majority of each of my meals.
Wouldn't be the same at all really. A vegetarian has a reason not to eat something. You're just fussy (albeit exaggeratedly so for internet forum purposes). In conclusion, we won't be having a meal together. Shame.
So a vegetarian who don't like meat has a reason not to eat it yet a meat eater who doesn't like veg is just fussy? Righto. Of course.
There's more than just vegetables. I like a good vegetable Lasagne. If I went to your house I wouldn't demand a vegetable Lasagne. I'd eat whatever I was given as long as it didn't include meat. You like meat. You demand meat and won't eat unless it includes meat. I would be asking to not have something. You are demanding to have something.
That's a fair point and it would wrong for a meat eater to expect meat. However as a host the vegetarian should consider the preferences of their guests, if this means serving meat then that really shouldn't be an issue.
Medical reasons, sure. I get that. Otherwise the reason is "because they choose to". I choose to eat meat. The veggie is being just as fussy as you claim the meat eater is.
I'm not demanding meat, there are some decent non meat meals about. I'd ask to not have any vegetarian rubbish, rather than demand meat. It could be chicken nuggets and chips for all I'd care and I'd still eat it, but I know from experience that I don't really like any vegetarian dishes. Quorn Lasagne isn't too bad, as long as it's a flavour explosion, Quorn is vile when you can actually taste it.
See my previous post. There's a big difference to me not wanting one type of food and you demanding one specific type of food.
I'm surprised nobody has pointed out that being a vegitarian for reasons of animal welfare is bullshit anyway. Veganism is the only way to go on that basis, because the dairy industry IS the meat industry - so being a veggie, but still eating dairy products, doesn't actually stack up in terms of ethics. Vegans on the other hand, have the right idea in terms of animal welfare. Incidentally as a confirmed meat eater (love it) I do find myself taking more notice of ethical concerns and I wouldn't, for example, buy a £2.99 chicken knowing how it was produced.
Yes, only bought barn eggs and so on for years now. Though I don't like eggs so I don't buy them often anyway.
If I was a veggie, I'd probably starve. I hate tofu, cous cous, lentils, I don't really like rice, I'm allergic to nuts and though I like veg and salad, I don't really like them on their own. The only veggie food I really like is Indian.
I was veggie for about a fortnight once (there was a woman involved). Never again. I don't even eat salad, in fact it's the food stuff I hate more than any other, and there's only so many bean burgers and **** one can consume before malnutrition and/or dysentery sets in.
Having worked in a few restaurants vegetarians should all be made aware that they aren't really taken seriously by a lot of kitchen staff so don't expect meals completely free from any trace of meat even if it seems that way, probably a lot of the cooking instruments re-used and cross-contaminated and so on. When evolution has devolved our meat-eating teeth I might become a veggie but not until that happens and it probably won't, we aren't meant to be grazers
No wheat etc, dairy, fish, seafood, soya, red meats, all nuts, eggs, nearly all fruit, onions, tomatoes, peppers, celery, spinach, wine, beer, spirits, chocolate, sweets and spices, not to mention chemicals and perfumes. I envy you meat eaters and vegetarians.
i find it difficult to stick to a diet my salad consists of lettuce and cucumber, went out at new year had one drink don't remember anything after that
That's awful mate, i genuinely feel for you. I can't imagine life, without most of those. Look on the bright side, BFT can't eat lettuce or cucumber....Well he can, he just doesn't want to.
