Well the chap at Bournemouth said they took a £4m cut and the figure I have heard as being the accurate figure for Lallana is £26m. £22m is pretty good.

    Try Inco-Pads. Nappies for adults.

How do you propose the club force someone to perform at their best if they do not want to?

If these players want to leave, let them leave for a good fee. I am confident we have the resources available to build a very good new team and add to the squad as well.

Logically, it would be implicit in their contract.

You can't, but if they pout and moan and perform poorly, they can kiss a big move at a later date goodbye. "You aren't going this window, but play your hardest or your next move is to Sunderland" should be motivation enough...

There are international qualifiers throughout the season, that is another reason why they need to perform. They are not going to get picked for their countries whilst playing in the reserves and as they are these great internationals and too big for lil ol Saint's that would probably kick them into action.

So then you keep paying his wages, he doesn't perform well and then you lose him for less money? What a great business plan!

If we identify a replacement that would be as good, better or a great value young talent, then sell him and come out better off. It's not like Lovren is the best in the world.

If the player is so dense that they'd be willing to torch their own future in the process.

And I'd take a bit of a financial hit on one sale if it sent the message that players only leave on our terms...where our terms mean more than a more-or-less acceptable pile of money coming back.

I wouldn't, **** him off and spend the money on someone(s) who wants to be here.

But if you keep doing that, you'll end up with a lot of players who, after a good year, know that the mere threat of holding out will get them what they want in short order.

Hang on though. Doesn't Lovren have a point? The team he signed for is disappearing fast. Does he have a case under Trades Descriptions?

I think he was our best signing last year, but would let him go. I just wish we could get him to Spain or Italy rather than bloody Liverpool. But if Liverpool are mad enough to give us £20m for him then he should go. I can't se the point in differentiating any more. If they want out, let the buggers go.

And we have every right to prevent him playing for anyone else.

I'm all for pragmatism and making the best of a bad job as we did with Oxo, but there is a limit. Can tolerate one a year...happens to other clubs, but I suggest we call a halt now and make Lovren the one left holding the parcel when the music stops.

Me three! Infinitely. Lovren is easily replaceable but there aren't many midfielders of Morgan's ilk in Europe.

Morgan going can end the Cork-Wanyama debate! Of course I want him to stay, but Cork isn't a class below Schneiderlin.
