QPR agree fee with Cardiff City for Steven Caulker Jul 03, 2014 16:13 By GetWestLondon Redknapp wants former Tottenham defender to partner Rio Ferdinand in W12 QPR have agreed a fee with Cardiff City for the transfer of Steven Caulker, Get West London understands. Harry Redknapp wants the City defender to partner the incoming Rio Ferdinand at Loftus Road next season and has met the £8million buyout clause in Caulkerâs contract. Ferdinand has told Redknapp he is ready to put pen to paper when he returns from the World Cup in Brazil next week. Rangers boss Redknapp hopes the imminent arrival of Ferdinand will persuade Caulker, who he worked with at Tottenham, to opt for QPR ahead of rival bidders Crystal Palace. http://www.getwestlondon.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/qpr-agree-fee-cardiff-city-7367627
Good news if it comes off.....just don't get Harolds obsession with Rio.....Caulker and Ned would be a formidable CB pairing.....
Rio doesn't need coaching, younger players need it. Its also probably in Rosie's best interests too. Apparently caulker wants to come back to London so I hope that gives us the edge in him.
Caulker is still looking for a bigger fish than us...I hear Hope i am wrong Worried about Ned Where does he fit in....left back, I don't think so
This could be a master plan - use the Rio link as a selling point and the "bad cop" Fernandes scuppers that deal after Caulker has signed. You heard it here first (although I'm not entirely sure what I'm saying).
I'm afraid its just wishful thinking on your part. I'm hardly Redknapp's greatest fan, but this is just the game playing between manager and owner that goes on at every club this time of year. Just that its a bit more public with H. He's also on record (frequently) about how much he likes TF and co as owners. One thing does look clear - he doesn't fancy last year's back four in the prem. Wouldn't be surprised if only Simpson got a regular game.
If we sign Caulker then that makes the Ferdinand signing easier to accept. Although I am not against signing Ferdinand anyway. Also, don't forget Caulker has played under Harry before, so that could also swing in our favour. However, I really wish Harry would keep his trap shut! Why broadcast to the world that we have agreed a fee?
If we can pull this deal off it would be a sensational signing Young, talented and a goal threat from set pieces Him and Onouha could be a very strong CB pairing, although I believe they'd both benefit from an organiser next to them.
Perhaps I'm wrong, but I don't think HR played Caulker much at tottenham & kept loaning him out. Just as possible is that having had him as his manager in the past may put Caulker off! We will find out, if & when, he signs for us.
The difference is rosie couldn't be taken care of while he was at spurs so he had to bring in CBs to cover the costs. Now caulkers agent is the one to help out Rosie with some dog food.
Relentless aren't you Flyer. Are you worried he is going to make a good signing that you can't criticise any other way perhaps?
