Makes no sense. We offer him a longer contract with more money and a release clause less than what was originally in there? Where is the benefit to LFC in any of that?

All they say is 'it may be less'.... Terrible reporting.

The key thing is that this contract took literally days to sign so it must be win-win for both parties. Not like there's been months of negotiations as sometimes happens

    This ^

It would be the strangest contract ever if we offered him a buy out clause less than an offer we turned down last summer <doh> On the plus side if Wanger reads the Indy he might waste all of next summer making stupid bids again <laugh>

Daily Star reporting "Suarez can still leave in the Summer" obviously any player can leave no matter what his contract is, provided both he and the club are happy with the deal. The headline might as well read " Messi can leave in the Summer" it would just need a club willing to pay £200m+ and him wanting to go.

Watch out for headlines such as

    Queen may abdicate

    Boy George may go straight

    ETC

Well done the English press and opposition fans on eventually getting it right about Suarez going - after predicting it for every window since Jan 2012.

People dont half talk **** though dont they, people on telly and in the public eye I mean.
Not having a pop at Liverpool because all clubs and ALL public eye people (??) musicians, actors etc are guilty of this.

This was what? 6 months ago.....ffs. The bit in bold especially.........6 months later he is out the door.

Talk about placating the public with bull ****.

What I mean is this though,

Suarez kicked up a fuss last summer about wanting to leave Liverpool, **** knows why. Your fans backed him to the hilt in the Evra thing and the Ivan bite. And despite that he still moans that he wants to leave, with Arsenal bidding of all clubs, not even really an upgrade on Liverpool, more a step sideways than a step up.

Did Liverpool and BR really think that this was just a monumental U-turn of epic proportions, he went from "want away" to "I would die for LFC overnight".

No way LFC and BR thought that, he signed this contract extension as a favour to the club, to bump his price up. He knew that, LFC knew that and BR knew that.

Yet they came out talking bollocks about his future being at LFC :)

Mweh, it's a win win. We all thought the new contract was a compromise, more wages and acceptance of negotiations with the big Spanish 2 in return for a higher buyout clause and him getting head down and helping us into the champions league.

If neither come calling he's here another year in his prime, if they do as one has, then we make a fat wad out of it.

I just hope with that guaranteed plan of funds in place there was also the targets identified to spend the money in the best possible way to keep us at the top and attack the cL. Soon find out!

Oh yeah, that was the point for sure.

Now everyone wins, (except Barca who pay more).
Suarez gets a bigger transfer bonus (10% of the total fee right), hence so does his agent. Liverpool get much more money for him. The only loser is Barca, which is never a bad thing, as they are scum.

Its just funny that BR and Ayre come out saying all this "his future is at LFC" bullshit when they know damn well it aint the case.
Chelsea have done this kind of **** too, and Man Utd for sure.

Thats why Arsenal fans hate RVP, because he didnt have the courtesy to do this at Arsenal before he signed for United.
