Can't say its something I've been that aware of, although it doesn't surprise me, money tends to gravitate towards the bigger cities, just look how much money Manchester receives compared to the rest of the north of England.
Really? Why hasn't it got an old town pre-Victorian Quarter? How old is its oldest pub? Where is its character?
Generally the logic is that Hull (for example) isn't doing so well so putting money into the wealthy Leeds is more worthwhile, but that just makes the problem worse. It's a vicious circle a bit like Sport England funding the sports that do well and cutting funding to one's that don't do well.
Not disagreeing with you, but what would you say is the nicest? Don't say Sunderland. Because it just isn't.
I was finding directions for someone going through Sunderland, and one of the main roads through is the Sunderland Highway, which they'd abbreviated to "Sunderland H'way" which made me laugh anyway.
I won't say Sunderland. Its a bit of a dive. It has its nice parts but the city centre has had a chronic lack of vision and invest!ent. I've always been a Durham person myself.
Before i opened this thread i thought it was going to be about that sponging tart, from Leeds, who got her breasts done on the NHS and now hates them & wants for breast reduction on the National Health as well. This is on top of sending her kids to school in taxis, funded by Leeds City council, because she's too afraid to use public transport. And to top it off, she's pregnant and smokes 20-a-day, & won't stop because she hates the fact it's a boy. not a girl.
So the city that gets the most funding, is the best place to live, in Yorkshire ? Yeah i can see how that might happen. Would you mind awfully,if i were to suggest you were a little bit dim ?
