We have no money but no-one wants to buy Oli from us.

Looking back at last year will he do a job for us tigers next season?

Hi mate - I heard you had offered him to us on a free as long as we took his contract over.

Decent enough player but not at a reported £27K a week. Definitely Championship standard most games, but should do better with the ball once he's won it in midfield. Curiously drifted in and out of some games for us last year, but overall I liked him.

He could defo do a good job for you, but that wage is a bit frightning and it looks like you're stuck with that Prem rate for another year.

We were hoping that you would take over the contract. He seemed to play a lot of games for you last year. He never seemed to do enough to be attacking midfield but wasn't strong enough for defensive midfield. Sound familiar?

We still have silly wages being paid out (Bullard 45k, Oli 27k, Paul McShane 23k, Kilbane 13k) and until we sort it out we won't be able to invest too well.

Oli looked good some games breaking up the play but for the most part it was like watching a labrador playing with a balloon

I'd prefer to split up those wages onto some free agents, or take a punt at a lower league prospect that is likely to peak over the next year or so, rather than slow down the gears (in oli's case) as he nears closer and closer to the end of his career.. (I'm saying this, how old is oli? Complete guesswork heh!)

I think this one is dead in the water.
Our days of paying those kind of wages to an slightly above average player(when he tries) are over.
As Boy in Blue says, we can pick up 3 players splitting his wage between them and most probably of as good a standard, better if they have fight in them.
Sorry you have these problems tiger, the penalties of failing in the premier, seen all too often these days.
Hope if we get there we have a few clauses in the contract to combat what can happen if you fail to stay up.

Thanks for the information everyone, much appreciated.

We're still paying for those "silly money" days that our previous chairman allowed our ex-manager to get away with.

Never mind! Back to our level (for now).

    WHAT THE F*CK

are those players even first teamers? thats like £110k a week, £5m a year, and i thought some of our players got paid too much. shocking that the people who signed those players for you didnt put in a clause to reduce the wages if you got relegated.

olofinjana was overall a good player at this level but on that wage no one will take him off you so i imagine he'll just sit on that contract until it expires. i really liked him as a player, he had his good games and bad games but he can do a job for hull next year no problems.

Isn't that what parachute payments are for? Those payments are higher than our entire turnover, yes that's turnover not profit, so I find it a tad difficult raising too much sympathy...especially as the contracts offered seem nonsense!

Gutted for the fans though as we are always left to put up with this crap!

Our previous chairman had a hand in all those contracts. No relegation clauses (fair play to Kilbane, he was on double that but halved his salary but doubled the remaining length of his contract).

It is shocking that there were no relegation clauses. Bullard should have had a pay as you play deal AND a relegation clause since no-one would insure him!

Our previous board were bonkers (IMO) and Brownie signed loads of rubbish that Paul Duffen negotiated stupid wages for. Think yourselves lucky you don't have McShane on 20K+

well the only consolation i can think of is that the clowns who dished out those wages are well and truly gone, and those contracts should be expiring by the end of the season. at least if you get promoted you know not to make the same mistakes <ok>

good luck next season m8 <ok>

Thats what the parachute payments are for as Ghost says. It isn't to get you back up again, its to cover your asses for the dumb contracts you sign when your all light headed and silly with being in the top flight.
I didn't mean Boro in particular there, no slight intended, I mean all clubs that suddenly find themselves in the wrong end of the prem.
(Of course it won't happen to the jacks because A: Huw won't spend any money in the first place so B: It won't be sudden or a surprise that they're there. lol)
