Top teams wont go near him yet i doubt, he will need to sustain the level of performance over more than 10 games for that, the best advice for connor imo would be to stay here for another couple of seasons beyond his current contract and really prove himself then look for the big move, nobody would begrudge him that, last thing he should do is a darren bent, he has a genuine opportunity to become an safc legend, he should take it by the horns. As far as these contract situations are concerned is it not the fault of de fanti or maggie?
hes a proper centre forward and when he gets the full cap things will sky rocket for him and safc, this will happen only if he plays and is handled in a better manner than he has been since coming here,he has shown what he is capable of when given a fair chance and he can only get better in a better side (touch wood) under gp
you have, i've been thinking about this all day and the only thing i can come up with is - agent, he'll run down his contract if i can get a guarantee that you will sign him for x amount per month for x amount signing on fee, but, if that sort of **** goes on then surely its illegal
Another ****ed up case in the world of football. If a young lad ain't happy to kick a ****ing ball around for less than 20k a friggin week. then tell him to **** off.
Sunderland's desire to keep hold of Connor Wickham will be tested in the next fortnight with a clutch of Premier League clubs ready to make a bid for the striker. The Black Cats are pushing Wickham for a decision on whether to sign a new contract after his late-season surge helped to keep the club in the top flight. Sporting director Lee Congerton does not want a repeat of the scenario which led to Jack Colback quitting the club this summer and negotiations with the strikerâs representatives are underway. However, Wickhamâs contract situation has alerted Leicester City, Crystal Palace and Stoke City, who are all monitoring the former England under-21âs availability. It is understood Leicester are ready to table a £5million bid to try and prise the striker from the Stadium of Light â and the reaction of the Cats hierarchy will be telling. Although Wickham has encountered his critics on Wearside there is no great appetite to sell one of their few recognised senior strikers â especially with doubts about whether Sunderland will be able to bring Fabio Borini back to North East. The Wearsiders have Jozy Altidore but the US international failed to find form last season and there are injury concerns surrounding him as well. All of that leaves Wickham as the man most likely to lead the line when the clubâs pre-season programme begins later this month. The forward is seeking assurances about where he stands in Poyetâs striker shake-up and promises of becoming the number one striker away from the North East would be tempting if Sunderland canât offer similar pledges to him. With uncertainty surrounding Altidore and Wickham, making sure Steven Fletcher is in the correct shape to rediscover his scoring form is essential. As reported in the Journal last month, the Scotland international returned to pre-season training a week early to make sure he was fighting fit for the start of the pre-season campaign. Poyet has heaped praised on the former Wolves man and said he is âexcitedâ. He said: âFletch came back a week early to make sure he started running with no reactions. âI saw him on Thursday and everything looks fine. Heâs excited. People donât know sometimes the players are like any of us. âWhen you like to play football so much youâre excited about the chance to go back. âAt the end of the season you are desperate to go on holiday but after a month youâre desperate to go back. âWe will have Steven there without any problems.â Connor Wickham decision is imminent for Sunderland Sunderland are pushing Connor Wickham for a decision on whether to sign a new contract after his late-season surge helped to keep the club in the top flight thejournal.co.uk
We really need this lad signed up. There isn't exactly a clutch of English elite clubs vying for his signature - Leicester, Palace and Stoke! Wow
id like to think we're better than these 3, even if our position in the league suggest otherwise. If Connor signs id like to think he's our first choice striker, which is something he has stated he has wanted for a long time
What does that tell us though? It tells me it would be nice for him to sign but not at any cost. He's hardly sort after is he? Big clue on his present level by the clubs interested.
