Morning all Bright and sunny here. Just taken delivery of 5 tonnes of gravel and soon after a dozen bottles of Rose. Should I start on the gravel spreading or the rose sampling?
Just a little sample starter theo - would hate to think you could end up rose spreading and gravel sampling....
Evening all from a hot and humid Bandit Country - #2 son is back safe and soundish from a stag do trip to Ibiza and Little Miss W_Y is due back from Thailand on Friday, so the house will be back to it's normal state. One benefit of this time of year is that I switch from 5 - Live to Radio 4 to avoid the dreaded Wimbledon. I really struggle with Tennis, but having to listen to it on the radio is dire...
Radio commentary of tennis is the most rediculous thing I have ever heard. Another thing that annoys me is the blanket coverage on BBC1 & 2 at the same time - hey I pay a licence fee for a choice of programming.
I would also add that when in Rome...... ie respect the traditions of the country you are in. If a female walked around an arab town in a bikini there would be hell to pay.
Morning all....... Back from a great couple of days Farne islands and Holy island..... and the annual head attack from Artic Terns......
Having taken groups of young ladies to India and Bhutan....... I have witnessed the utter stupidity of this.... Incidentally when I worked in Bhutan 1 in 4 female volunteers reported different sexual abuse..... and I am afraid to say I am not in the least surprised..... sadly..... but yes you follow, within reason the social behaviour traditions of the culture you live...
Good morning all from a very humid Weston-super-Mare! Rain promised for later, I hope it freshens the place up! Have a good day!
Morning all, last night I hauled myself off to do the watering despite the man from the meteo suggesting that we might have a few light showers overnight. Woke up this morning to steady heavy rain on the roof lights. Clearly the man has now arrived in his office, stuck his hand out of the window, and now thinks we will have stormy weather until this evening. Might as well look to see if the cows are lying down.
A head Iknew was introduced to a former pupil who had become a meteorologist. The lad explained very enthusiastically how modern technology had radically changed the work. "We can tell what the weather's like without even looking out of the window," he gushed. The head gave him an old-fashioned look before replying, "Really? I thought that was how you'd always done it."
