Probably not, bud. These days Kaka is a bit as his name suggests. Not sure what's happened to him, really.

I'd prefer someone a bit more dynamic with pace, power and pass & move skills, capable of bagging goals. Can't think who that could be ( in our bracket) . Not that I'm picky or owt. <whistle>

SUNDERLAND are considering making an improved bid for Cardiff’s Jordon Mutch after entering into negotiations for the midfielder.

Relegated Cardiff rubbished reports a month ago that Mutch was heading to the Stadium of Light in a £1.5million switch and insisted that they hadn’t received any offers for the 22-year-old.

But the Echo understands that Sunderland have subsequently seen a firm bid of around £3.5m rejected by the Bluebirds, for a player who is about to enter the final 12 months of his contract at the Cardiff City Stadium.

Sunderland must now decide whether to up their offer for Mutch, who is thought to be alongside Fabio Borini and Ashley Williams as one of the main targets on the Black Cats’ summer shopping list.

There is a suggestion that there is a buy-out clause in Mutch’s contract – as there is with Cardiff team-mates Fraizer Campbell, Steven Caulker and Gary Medel – and the Welsh outfit will not accept anything less than that figure.

Certainly, Derby-born Mutch fits Sunderland’s brief of targeting players with Premier League experience, despite the Birmingham City academy product suffering the drop with Cardiff.

The attacking midfielder netted seven times during an impressive maiden campaign in the top flight, including the opening goal when he shone during the 2-2 draw against Sunderland in December.

But Cardiff boss Ole Gunnar Solsjkaer is very much planning for life with Mutch next season, as he looks to secure an instant return to the Premier League.

Unlike Campbell, Caulker, Medel and ex-Sunderland striker Kenwyne Jones, Cardiff have not accepted that losing Mutch will be part of the price of relegation.

They are determined to keep him at the club, along with goalkeeper David Marshall, who also earned a host of plaudits last season.

Chairman Mehmet Dalman made that crystal clear a month ago when he addressed the speculation over the England Under-21 international.

“We have not received any bids for Jordon and he is in our manager’s plans for next season,” said Dalman.

“Jordon is a Cardiff City player and that will not change.”

Meanwhile, Sunderland Under-21s will travel to Scotland to take on Partick Thistle in a pre-season friendly on Wednesday, August 6 (kick-off 7.30pm).

It is the fourth warm-up game for Kevin Ball’s side, who have already finalised friendlies against Spennymoor, Gateshead and Boston United.

El-Hadji Ba looks set to return to France next season after being offered to Ligue 1 clubs this summer.

The Journal understands Ba’s name has been circulated to clubs in France for a possible loan move as Sunderland look to move into next season with a leaner squad – while also trying to improve a talent who was signed as part of a massive squad overhaul last term.

The former Le Havre midfielder was involved in the final game of last season against Swansea in a sign Gus Poyet has seen potential in the summer capture – but it looks increasingly likely he will be granted a move.

While the club still believe Ba can offer something, he remains an unproven talent and needs first-team football to toughen him up.

His camp are now testing the water both in France and England to see whether there would be any interest in a loan move.

Sunderland will assess a number of young players when the club return for pre-season training at the end of the week but David Moberg Karlsson looks set to depart, with IFK Gothenburg understood to have expressed an interest in taking him back to Sweden.

The 20-year-old midfielder struggled to make a breakthrough last season after making a £1.5million switch as part of former Director of Football Roberto De Fanti’s major overhaul of his Black Cats squad.

As Sunderland look to re-shape their squad ahead of the new season there was positive news for US international Jozy Altidore in his bid to regain fitness ahead of tonight’s clash with Belgium.

Good move sending young lads on loan, would prefer him to go to Championship rather than France.

Looks like a sharp lad who could develop into an Ayew type if we handle him right.

Very good before last season he's just been riddled with injuries since. You have to wonder why they're selling him instead of offering him a new deal.

Hearing that we have agreed deals for Mutch 5mil Williams 5mil and Alonso 4mil. All to have medicals this week. Also heard Chelsea have agreed a season long loan of Zouma to SAFC if they are able to get a new CB into the club. Zouma has also agreed to the loan just a waiting game now. No news on a forward yet or any news on Borini might be a while yet as we will have to get rid of Fletcher Alitdore or Wickham just hope Whickham signs a new deal or it could be him going to avoid another Colback situation next summer.

14 million for three cracking players would be pretty decent bussiness imo, Would like to get Mutch down to 4 million though. Alonso at 4 million is an absolute snip. We'll probably sell him down the line for 15million, trounced Shaw statistically last season.

Hope these come off.

Sky Sports sources understand that Dundee United have rejected two bids from West Ham United for Andrew Robertson.
The 20-year-old has emerged as one of the most in-demand players in Scotland, having only signed for United from amateur side Queen's Park last summer.
Robertson quickly established himself at Tannadice and even become a full Scotland international under Gordon Strachan.
West Ham have tried to broker a deal, with their second offer understood to have been £1.5million, but United, who have just sold Ryan Gauld to Sporting Lisbon, rejected their bids.
Speaking to Sky Sports News, United chairman Stephen Thompson refused to be drawn on the subject.
"I'm not going to comment on that," he said. "I prefer to comment when business is done. If they prefer to comment, that is fine, but I am saying no more at the moment."
The likes of Everton, West Brom, Sunderland and Newcastle have all been credited with an interest in Robertson in recent months.

Strange that, you'd think Chelsea would prefer him to get PL experience.
