As I said 7 - 10 days ago green is ours and the doc is being kicked out A lot of transfers are agreed but not announced immediately so nothing to be worried about folks
In Dick we trust .......................as I tell Missy AllHell regularly I am a little worried that there was no picture in that last post however
I keep asking myself what's happened here - three weeks ago two Prem sides (one of them Norwich) were supposed to be battling it out for Green's signature with the fee topping a million quid - now we're in the frame at a third of that price. Could it be that the player (almost uniquely) has decided to put his own self-development ahead of the big bucks and just felt he may not have been quite ready? Or was the story simply a hype? As long as he arrives at The Valley with a couple of pairs of boots and a pen in his hand, I have to say I'm not much fussed at the reason...
Danny Green will sign for us upon his return from holiday according to an un named Daggers player who helps me coach my under 13's team. He has had 2 other offers from teams north of Watford, but wants to stay in the area. He's relishing linking up with Benno once again. Unless something dramatic happens at the 11th hour Danny Green will be an Addicks player.
Strewth in Heaven, we are going to have a seriously attack minded first two thirds of the field - now, about those Centre Backs - roll on the 30th...
I've just returned from a residential trip to France and have been surprised, staggered and delighted with everything that has happened and is 'going on' at the Valley. Danny Green would be another huge coup for us and shows our rivals that we really do mean business this season. Happy days indeed! PS I was away with a lad from Bolton who remembers Alonso well and rated him as a robust, industrious and steadfast midfielder who was equally comfortable in central defence as well. Remind you of anyone...
Peterborough boss Darren Ferguson is refusing to panic despite seeing several summer bids for new players rejected. Ferguson still believes Posh have a chance of signing Dagenham winger Danny Green, even though they have turned down 2 sizeable offers. "We've made good bids for a player who I believe will strengthen our squad. It's disappointing that none of them have been accepted yet, but I believe we can still get all the players we want," Ferguson told the Evening Telegraph. "It's frustrating because we like to get our transfer business done quickly, especially as the players we are after will be attracting interest from other clubs.
Gosh we do have some real insiders on here don't we, first Franco with Hayes, then Dick and Kerpowell with Green, plus SuperChrissy has popped up with insider information a few times. My only contribution to any 'insider information' as that I can confirm that Therry Racon does his shopping in Sainsburys in Woolwich and drives a Mini Back to the main topic of conversation though, I do fear Peterborough will snap up Green in the last minute, I'll be honest in that I feel we would be the better option for him - we have ambition to go up to the Championship and then go up again to the Prem, and whilst Peterborough are a league above us now, they can't really match that ambition, and are probably favourites for relegation next season.
WWOCB - I don't think Charlton will go up this season though - too many new signings and will take 10+ games to gel. Also don't think your manager is experienced enough as last season proved. Think the 2 Sheffield clubs and Preston will be the teams that do well! Your best player (Racon) has gone and nobody really knows how your new signings will do!!
so a player who left us, who couldnt get in our first team in his preferred position now walks in to your first team? speaks volumes to me. either you have a serious lack of ambition, or the sort of players we're getting in are aiming a little higher than just being in the championship.
Not according to Statbank !! http://forum.charltonlife.com/discussion/41526/the-charlton-life-statbank-201011
You can pick out players that improved in later clubs, but for every one that improved there were 5 that did not. You have yourself a decent, pretty average midfielder. Not our best player, certainly not our worst either, but still.
Sinclair? Seriously? And this is the same Varney that Blackpool are letting go after 1 season? Iwelumo hardly did badly for us. As for Sharon... well that one's valid, but he made it clear he had little interest and every club has one of them...
