The season you went down though, you had a few overpaid flops, fans not happy with Ashley, crap manager, then an unproven one to try to keep you up, Nolan wasnt getting the goals, barton had serious offflield problems and had a bust up with shearer as well, Collo was an accident that happened every week, Enrique wasnt the player he was last season for you, lost Shay in January just basically lots of turmoil.

You shipped out the overpaid crap, kept a good few of your half decent players, £10 million defender in collo, and if he couldnt do it in the Championship, then something would have been amiss, good midfield and carrol came through (not sure how many games he actually got in your relagation season if any), so you kept the nucleus of the side and relegation/promotion streghnthened your resolve.

You came up and done quite well, wasnt fantastic, some of the results were very good, but over the 38 games you were not world beaters (just like us) but it was your resolve and togetherness that got you through.

Splitting that up now (if it happens) and getting in even better players on paper, could be drastic (it may not as well mind) just off the top of my head though, Jon Dahl Thomosan, Hugo Vianna to name but 2 came with huge expectations from your fans, but never lived up to the hype, its definately a risk, may come off, may not. We will just have to wait and see.

Thomasson and viana were high priced flops, the players brought in pose little risk as we have spent nothing. All the talk in this thread is pure speculation as the only big player we have sold is Nolan. By all accounts, pardew wants his defence built round collo so I don't see him leaving, but I also don't see him being given a new contract. We aren't lining up and new centre halfs as far as I know so would be very surprised to see collo leave. There is even talk of him getting the armband.
The thing with Nolan is that his replacement was already signed before he was sold. If he never wanted to sign his contract, then what more can the club do.

thomasson was only 3.5 million the season after you bought shearer for 15 million ish, so i wouldnt exactly say he was high priced, flop yes but not high priced lol

Viana was 11 miilion though, so i will give you that one.

you just dont know how players will settle in to the lifestyle, systems etc.

True enough, but you can't put all the emphasis on our backbone etc because at the end of the day, you lot finished 10th and that was with what, 3 or 4 first team loanees all of which will need replacing. It's just my opinion but how much fight and spirit can a dressing room have when key players don't even belong to that club?? All I'm saying is that just because we might lose a few key players, it doesn't mean we will automatically struggle. Replacing one key player will take time to bed in yes, but bringing 7or 8 players at a time will have just as much a detremental effect. Just my opinion though.

I agree totally with you on that score, I hate the fact we have to bring in 8 players, but hopefully the nucleus of the squad wont change that much, Bramble/Catts/Sess/Gyan.

and we are looking at players already A based in this country B PL experience

only the season will tell if the clubs have got it right or not, its getting exciting already, but its a team game, not an individual game, so we will have to see how they gel as a team.

May not be automatic choices, but still need replacing.

Skysports.com understands new Birmingham City boss Chris Hughton is lining up a raid on his former club Newcastle United for Leon Best and Wayne Routledge.

Hughton signed both players during his time in charge at St James' Park and is considering a summer reunion as he looks to bolster his Birmingham squad.

Will be an interesting derby at your place like with it being so early on. I don't think either side will be settled with all the new players coming in. God knows what will happen. Not to mention we both have hard games first up.

I warmed to best like but I wouldn't be confident starting him every game. Not really much of an impact player off the bench either. Routledge is a very good championship footballer. I can't believe he is still at e club to be honest.

  10. We've sold Nolan everyone reckons we've lost our team spirit <doh>

If Carroll really wanted to go then 35 million was a cracking deal. Nolan has been fantastic but he's losing his legs and as much as i think we should have kept him, we're getting more talent in.

Barton, Jonas and Colo have had interest, that means **** all, it doesn't mean they're going or close to going.

Don't get your hopes up, the same team spirit will be there. I'd rather get rid of Nolan get in 2/3 good strikers to rely on for goals.

Anyway, the bloke that you's lot should be pissing yourself about is not going anywhere -

He's the subject of your nightmares!

There's not a cats chance in hell Barton is going, Colo and Jonas might, but i doubt it, and even if they do, big Stevey Taylor is a brilliant center back when he's form, not only in defending but in attack also. He's returning to fitness and he brings more passion onto the pitch than any other Newcastle United player.

Your spot on with this statement, one of the Mag over here was trying to get me to have 200euro a bet on the derby last night, now i like a ****ing bet, but we settled on 50 euro, cos i don't have a scooby who will be playing for either of us, let alone an opinion at this stage how it'll go!

What price we both win our openers and play out the old favourite 1-1 at our place to sit 4th and 5th?

Do you discuss our transfer news on a daily basis?

Every day there's an article about our players staying , leaving , signing contracts etc.

    Brilliant <ok>

That is because you are are our local rivals and as uch we keep a vested interest in your dealings.

I'd suggest that's why you were on our board to see the ****ing article.

There's a difference between browsing through your rivals' board or dedicating a thread to them that went on for 3 pages <ok>

Incidentally this thread is one of the longest football related threads on your board. Wonder why <whistle>

Again, i see no wrong in it, we will all openly admit that we have our fascination with you lot, as our local rivals, and a team likely to be competing in a similar position in the league next season.

You can try and make out that you think it's unusual in some way, but you know for a fact, it's normality and to be expected.

    End of.
