Agreed it will send out the wrong message.

If Ben were replaceable at a price we could afford Spurs would have multiple targrets for left back - they don't.
Vorm has been replaced by Fabianski and could easily have been replaced by Gerry.
Bony - only time will tell but I wouldn't take the risk. I'll be disappointed if I don't see how a fully fit Bony partners fully fit Gomis, Emnes or Michu.

If Bony goes I hope he does better than Spurs.
I dare say a lot will happen between now and August and much depends on release clauses.

Yes the release flausæ may be a problem, maybe bens is 8m ?

Bony may also have a 19m clause in his contract,as to me its the only way the media could have come to that figure.

Especially when others Are in the 25m bracket!

One good thing for me is that this is where Are board put the swansea hats on and do what Os best for us, no doubt in my mind that either michu or bony is off, i cant see us paying top dollar and having go is as a back up thats for sure.

it is a big NO from me. Would rather have players we know perform for us. Than take a chance on spending big money on someone who could flop. As it happens just ask Spurs. All the gareth Bale money spent and they were worse off in terms of league position. I would rather stick with what we have and make additions to compliment.

If Spurs / Levy are determined to break into the top 4 positions to be honest with Bony probably the exception are Vorm and Davies CL standard players ? my opinion no ,thats not to say they can't reach that level given they have time on their side but Spurs are looking to the short term and will be taking another scatter gun approach to improving their squad

Without Bony we face the prospect of a miserable season if we can't find another striker who will be as successful. We are due a big dud or two.

Due a dud or 2. Schekter and Vasquez and possibly Donnelly? Although I don't want to see him go sooner or later we are going to lose Bony so we need to be looking for his replacement now.

    1. Can't see this happening
    2. What is your source for this information/claim? Seriously you've just posted "spurs are willing to spend 50m on these three guys from one team, honest"

Two of those were loan signings so nothing really lost. I would hate to lay out tidy money for someone you are then stuck with or sell at a loss. ask the cardiff fans about Cornelius.

Just a quickie and nothing to do with this thread, But has anyone els lost the icons down the left of the front page.

Exactly <ok> Why dismantle our team to fix another team that spent a fortune last season and got it wrong. We would be in the same boat as they are in looking for players to suit our style and will be chancing our luck that we get it right first time or we will struggle and could put us in danger of relegation all because we could pocket £50m ....what is the point of that.....? It's like saying to spurs... OK you can buy our well trained players to fix your team and we will take your problem and make it our problem instead...<laugh>

Metro was one of the first media outlets to run the story Cherry Jack , the article also says wales on line said talks already took place earlier in the week .As other articles came out on the subject it looks more like we are asking that amount .Like I said previous , I dont believe the article in question , but do question the sanity of those who wouldnt take the 50 million ....in a nice way .

Roof 50 mil is great if and only if you can replace with the right people and in losing the 3 players we dont get relegated. So yes maybe my sanity is questionable but I would rather keep the players we know fit our side and compliment them, rather than trying to find another 20 goal striker. Pl survival is more important to me than money.

Thats where we differ lefty , I want us to be so finacially secure , that coming back up will be much easier than most . We aren't a club that is going to stay up for good , lets face it . But being sound for the rebound is crucial imo . I ve seen teams spend all to try to stay up and when they go down they have nothing to build on . Derby and Leeds come to mind .Most are overlooking Gomis, Taylor and Fab already on the books as replacements . Do our best to stay up but save save save .

Roof, so do you not think we are financially secure now. We never spend what we dont have. Well I believe thats the way the club is run. Surely financially we are one of the most secure clubs in the PL and dont need to chase money.

So can you confirm you would be happy to take the money and if we got relegated it wouldnt bother you as we have made 50 mil. But what about the nearly 80 mil we would lose from not being in the PL.

I agree Gomis and Flapianski are tidy signings. But IMO as humble as it is. they are not better than what we will be losing. They are good additions to what we already have.

Keep on chasing money I say . Seems to me every player that has left us in the recent past has payed for himself , wages included.Allen , Sinclair.i remember wanting to sell Bodde to Wigan when Martinez took over , 5 million was a lot then . Bony could get injured or have a bad season and we may never have a chance at 25 million again , Same as Michu , I would have sold him for a bundle last summer when everyone was in awe of him . Back to the gem mines . Remember , our first few seasons we had no Michus, or Bonys but we survived ... cheers

Looks like you're in a minority Roof, keep the players and stay up I say. We're an established PL side and we need to cement that position. Much harder to come back up, even of you had a billion quid.

We've been through a golden period and it's only going to get harder as the "big boys" will always pinch the best players, so it's a constant struggle to survive at this level. Continuity is more important than extra profit. We're already profitable.

Agree 100% we cant be lucky forever .

Vasquez ,lamah and shecter were Loan agreement s and what i call lucky dip signings, could be good could be ****! As it turned out they were poor.

Looking at Spurs and the money they spent on the likes of soldado,Norwich on what they spent on van wolf winkle, sunderland on DG, Cardiff on corneilious. Id say we Are due an expensive duffer sooner rather than later.

Some wouød argue we have had lita mind..
