I must admit that in my time as a sub contractor , I usually tried to see out a contract , because it looks good on the CV , that said , I was on the 1st day of my 3rd stint at Fleetlands , when I got a call offering me a job in Norway ( I had recently split up with my second wife ) the rest as they say is history! So yes I didnt exactly chase the dollar ,(more the Kroner) but wanted the life change! If I would have completed the contract at Fleetlands , I would have lost the opportunity to go to Norway! I guess what I`m trying to say is I can see both sides of the debate!
No - if I have been aggressive I am sorry but I think I have just been frustrated by what appeared to be your "baiting". You keep making the same comments ignoring my points, suggesting that it is the same however people walk away from contracts, using your little emoticon etc - if I did not already know you I would have thought you were a WUM - but as I have seen you posting for a long time I know that is not the case. However why do you not respond to the things I actually say and not what you claim I say - there is a world of difference. Let me ask you a direct question - would you behave like MM did? Would you (knowing your employer feared you might leave and that this would damage the company) accept and sign a contract and then less than 3 months later force your way out of it? Please don't use the argument about football contracts being different - yes they are but this is not a simple football contract as it was a wider understanding than that? So would you do that and if you did would you see nothing wrong with it? You see for me that is the question - I would and could not - to me that would be dishonourable and would show I lacked integrity and that however inadequately I am only expressing my opinion and it is not high handed nor do I think only I understand complex arguments but when someone refuses to debate the coplex points it indicates they are either deliberately ignoring the complexity or perhaps just missing it. For my part you seem to have adopted a drop a little comment and stand back approach to this debate rather than explaining why you do not see the difference. Hey ho - respond or not - your choice If you don't want to debate with me that is fine but at least believe that my opinions on this are as valid as yours even if they do differ
I am a different kettle of fish, you see being in the RAF you sign a contract for so many years and if you are a good 'boy' and get promoted regularly you will be offered further Service which you can or cannot decide to take up. Also even after you decide to sign on you can give notice of your intent to leave normally anything between 6 -12 months notice. I am on a pensionable Service which means it is slightly easier for me to leave as I know I have my pension to fall back on (saying that at the moment that is depending what the Government decide to do with Pensions) If they try and stiff the Armed Forces there will be a lot of senior people talking with their feet to ensure they get what they have worked towards. I am going to give it 2-3 years and see how my other half enjoys life in Paris, if she wants to stay there afterwards I can put my notice in and join her out there. Her last 3 years in the RAF will be spent in France, I currently have another 6 years left before my time is up. If the work and economic climate dictates I have a wage for that time, I would not jump ship without a parachute or safety net of another job lined up though.
Yes - well in the RAF they shoot deserters don't they - now that is an idea - MM could you come over here for a moment
I refer you to the quote in my last post. ('misspelt' is not hyphenated - though how one of my poor intellect and education could know that I'll never know)
I sincerely hope that this interesting thread does not tail off with such boring matters as spelling and grammar.
nah it wont, thats just the remnants of a fight between Leo and ATR. There is shrapnel in several different threads. But its over now!
May i offer another view, mm knows he is sought after but uncertain about the club being under new ownership, the club are worried about posing mm cheap so they agree a 3 year contract giving both parties some securty- mm gets a pay off if sacked and wfc gets a decent compo package if mm leaves with a gentlemans agreement not to stand in his way
i feel sure the club didn't want MM to leave, i doubt very much that it was in their thinking that he would leave so soon after signing the contract, even if they did perhaps expect him to go at the end of the season...
Having had plenty of time to think about this, i have to say i am not as angry as i expected. Yes what he did was decietfull and imorral, but like its been said before football contracts mean little. However, i would think that he would be more honest and at least come clean or admit he wanted to leave. However, i am happy about where the club is now and i am sure we will move on to much better things under a manager who cares.
